What did Wizards learn from Essentials?

Just so I understand, what in particular do you feel the essential problem of 4E was?

    Meta-Buying

I just evaluate each piece of work on it's own merit as I hold it in my hands. I guess I don't keep my hand in the 3rd party game enough to recognize publishers on anything but their product's reputation, so I don't have to keep track of what the president of the company has been up to, and if...

4.0 D&D: Not too far away? Thoughts and opinions

Dude, by the time 4th comes out you'll be rolling down the road in a limo drinking champagne out of some fashion model's shoe. You can quote me on that son.

    Low Fantasy

When I think of "low" fantasy, I tend to think of it in terms of being banal vs fantastic. Some of my favorite fantasy novels are Steven Brust's Taltos books, that feature a continent spanning empire operated in large part by the magic provided by a single hugely powerful artifact controlled by...

High-level spellcasters slowing down the game

I've got to agree. If your choice of character class clashes with the amount of time it requires to implement, make a character who you can play without derailing the game for the other players. We all have a responsibility to keep the game running smoothly. (don't get me started about...

"Yes, you can" Or "No you can't"

I've voted no. But there's no point to it. It was a counterproductive idea to start, offering only huge risk and minimal reward. (Do you think I have something in mind? Yes. Yes I do. But I'm a player, not a GM so pay me no mind.)

    [WOTC] Minis Spotlight

BZZZT! Bad math! Rares will constitute 12.5% of a booster (1 in 8) Uncommons ring in at 37.5% per booster (3 in 8) And Commons round out the rest at 50% of a booster (4 in 8) So, half of what you get'll be uncommon or better. Not too bad.

    DnD miniatures line

I'm unusualy exited by the line and i've purchaced exactly 1 lead mini in the past 8 years. I like that I don't have to paint them, because I have not the talent nor the time to do so. I like the randome pack, because I'm going to end up with the chance to use monsters that I wouldn't normaly...

10th Level Hunter of the Dead, Enervation & Energy Drain

So the Hunter would suffer the effects of the negetive levels (-1 to hit, spell loss etc. ) but wouldn't be subject to the actual level loss due to failure on the fort save?

10th Level Hunter of the Dead, Enervation & Energy Drain

The effects of enervation are instantanious in durration, but suppression implies a period of lowered life force followed by a return to normal after a length of time. As this is not the case, I would consider the "suppressing" effect to be colorful descriptive text and rule Sealed Life to be...

emergency info request : savage species

Look, with all sarcasm aside, I was just looking for a touch of help. The guy next to me and I had just been killed, and he was thinking of switching from playing the rouge to a more melee character, and he couldn't remember the half ogre stat mods. after determining that between us the house...

Thanks again for the help in time of need, but the game has finished.

emergency info request : savage species

Oh. hey. Thanks. I'll just tote 180 lbs. with me every week. That'll work fine. Or better yet, I'll just tell my DM I can never die so I don't need to make any new characters. That'll be _just_ fine.
