The Player Psychology of Fleeing Villains

As a DM, I love recurring villains. Love them. Just by showing up a second time, the villain brings with him the emotional response of the earlier meeting, a sense of purpose for the players ("hey, I know him! he's a bad guy! get him!), and they let you weave a better story, as you dont...

    Eberron inconsistencies

Actually, from what I recall of Faiths of Eberron offhand, spellcasting clergy are the exception, not the standard. Lay priests are very, very common in Eberron. And the (alignment of your deity) aura is just for clerics. Paladins get an aura of good, adepts don't have one. Paladins aren't...

    Eberron inconsistencies

We've gotten off on quite a tangent regarding the right/authority/power of a paladin to have random citizens arrested/questioned/smited for violations of his spider sense. There are plenty of reasons that a paladin's evildar would fail to convince authorities of a random person's guilt, as...

    Eberron inconsistencies

Eh, I've been to a few places with a lot of one and very little of the other, I don't really see these two concepts as having all that much correlation. YMMV, of course. A decent in-game explanation? Traditionally having a productive, comfortable middle class is among the strongest factors...

    Eberron inconsistencies

You mean, exactly like House Orien? That's what the Greater Mark of Passage is for, and that's what they do with it. There's already the equivalent of a multi-billion dollar corporation in that line of work. A PC spellcaster selling teleports in competition with House Orien is the equivalent...

    I'm sick of...

I know this is a hate thread, but I have to point this out as one of the things I love about Pathfinder. Want to know why a rule was written the way it was? Post on their forums, get a response from the guy who wrote it that way (or someone equally informed in the decision, but the point...

The resurrection problem. Case in point: Eberron

In Sharn: City of Towers (pages 20-21) six people are listed as being capable of casting raise dead, in the biggest city on the planet. None are capable of regeneration or resurrection. Barring the use of gentle repose, that leaves 9-12 days for the deceased to be brought back, which may not...

Need military help Vietnam War in Nexus D20

Both Delta Force and Army SOAR came about after Vietnam. Delta's first real-world operation was the fiasco at Desert One (Operation Eagle Claw - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), and the 160th SOAR was put together as a response to that incident, so that high speed units like Delta wouldn't...

How many miles can one travel in a day?

30 is the upper limit for sustained travel. Push yourself much harder than that and you won't be able to move the next day. Did a 30 mile march years ago in the army. That's with a 30 lb. pack, helmet and weapon, taking a short (10-20 minute) rest every 2 hours.

    D20 To Die For
