That’s funny, that’s exactly what I find. I have given them potions and scrolls, but the only thing they ever remember are healing potions. Which they need because they charge headlong into everything. At least the wizard likes to scribe new spells into his spellbook, but this still leads him...

Thank you for all the suggestions, all good for thought. I do like the idea of down time/ limited crafting time. Instead of a heavy handed block of "I'm making 20 scrolls!", its more narrative related and a reward of sorts.

I think the wand of enemy detection is the only wand in the DMG that specifies a command word is spoken as part of the wands activation. Other than that one, there is no verbal component/requirement for wands? Silence will not effect wand use?
