(Adventure) Trek to the Vinyard...

Velbrik - Initiative: +1; AC: 14; HP: 7/7; Weapon: Short Bow +1, 1d6 (x3)

Velbrik mutters a curse and removes the arrow, slinging the bow over his shoulder. He follows Troi quickly into the room, glancing around with one hand on the hilt of his longsword.

Handing her sword, shield and helmet over to Troi, Zoe slowly approaches the kid with open hands, trying to get it calm by speaking calmly to it. "Hey there, it is allright. We are not going to hurt you. We are here to help." Zoe continues trying to hush the kid.

If she succeeds at hushing it, she continues: "See, I do not have my weapon, and those other men in the room are going to leave the room now." Zoe looks around with a stern face to the others for a second before focussing back on the kid. "My name is Zoe. Can I know your name too?"

OoC:Resists saying ''newt", sorry...

IC: Zoe movs towards the little boy showing him that she means no harm, trying to gain his trust.
<Cha DC 15, total roll 17>
The child ceases trying to scramble through the back wall and says in a tiny voice 'I'm Deryn'After a moment he begins to cry and says [/COLOR] 'I want my mommy...'
Outside thunder rolls again, shaking the Manor-House with it's force.

Kneeling down to get on par with the child: "Hello, Deryn. I will help you find your mommy, okay? But I need you to tell me what happened."

If Deryn seems to agree, then Zoe will asks the following questions one by one. If Deryn doesn't want to answer a certain question, Zoe will let him calm down and forget about that question, moving on to the next one:

- What is your mommy's name?
- Do you live here in the mansion?
- Do you know of other people in the mansion?
- When did you last see [insert name of mother here] and where?
- What can you tell me about what happened?
- When did this happen?

Um..Mavreena...mommy.'
- Do you live here in the mansion? 'Yes.
- Do you know of other people in the mansion?I dunno, my mommy and pappa an Jymm an Orson an um...' He looks to be having a difficult time with this one.
- When did you last see Mavreena and where? I dunno...Orson told me ta find a good hidin place, like wen we plays Hide-n-Find...'
- What can you tell me about what happened? He starts to blubber at this and sits down against the wall, tears streaming down his face, silently mouthing inarticulate words at this point.

- When did this happen? He says no more.

While Zoe talks to the child, outside in the Foyer...

Thurgan hears something moving beyond the open doorway at the Foyer's end.
The Dwarf (and Felix) see a shape rushing through the open doorway towards the Companions.

Rinaldo's hackles raise up on the back of his neck as he turns and sees something standing in the doorway, a massive form carrying a huge Axe.
Lightning flashes, showing a huge Orc, red eyes aglow, impossibly large tusks protruding and gnashing hungrily...

The Orc at the doorway is 20' away. The other Orc is about the same at 20' away in the other direction.

<Rinaldo has a Free action before initiatives towards the orc to the south. Thurgan and felix likewise have actions regarding the orc to the North, as they have seen it. Afterwards, Initiatives are as follows>

Velbrik 21 <Nat 20 and 1st>
Troi 22
Felix 21
Thurgan 19
Zoe 18 (In the room with the child)
Rinaldo 10

< If I didn't state before in the thread, rolls of '20' go first, regardless of Initiative bonus, as '1's go last. Ties would revert to Init bonus, then to Dex if 2 combatants rolled '20' etc...>

Initiative: +2, AC: 14, HP: 7/7, Weapon: Shortsword (Att: +0, Dam: 1d6, Sneak: 1d6)

"Watchout! Two orcs!"

Rinaldo shouts the warning as soon as he saw the two orcs. At his turn, he will try to manoeuvre around one to be able to sneak him, if there is no opportunity for that, he will simply attack one, if there is one left standing at that time.

OoC:The Orcs are coming from opposite directions and are facing you.
While they are 'aware', the Orcs have not yet gone in the suprise round, and <I believe> are thus considered Flat-Footed, which would net Rinaldo the +1D6 Sneak. If I am wrong due to edition changes, someone feel free to tell me.
Rinaldo could throw a knife or whatever other missile he had before the Orc closed.
Each Square is 5'.

If I have a free action, as you said, I cannot do much (talk, cast quickened spell...) and none of the option allow me to do anything. Throwing a knife is a standard action, and drawing it is a movement action (as I only have my sword in my hand).

If I have a partial action during the surprise round (a movement or a standard action, but not both) , then I can do a charge, and I charge at Orc2, as you can do a charge as a standard action IF you move maximum your movement.

If you are able to take only a standard action or a move action on your turn, you can still charge, but you are only allowed to move up to your speed (instead of up to double your speed). You can’t use this option unless you are restricted to taking only a standard action or move action on your turn.

For flat-footed: Someone is considered flat-footed if he havn't taken any action since the start of the combat, and by so, he his vulnerable to sneak attack, and if I can charge the orc before he act, then I<ll do it and hope I hit him and kill him with my 2d6 damage.

Troi - Initiative: 22; AC: 16; HP: 8/8; Weapon: Whip +0, 1d3+1

Zoe
"See, I do not have my weapon, and those other men in the room are going to leave the room now." Zoe looks around with a stern face to the others for a second...

Troi shrugs as Zoe looks at him, then leaves the room, standing at the doorway.

Rinaldo
"Watchout! Two orcs!"

"What?" Troi says, turning. "Damn!"

He drops Zoe's shield, helmet, and sword, uncoils his whip, takes a small step towards the orcs, and lashes out at the nearest one, attempting to rip the weapon out of its hands...

Dropping the equipment, drawing the whip (move-equivalent), taking a 5-foot step, then making a disarm attempt with a +8 bonus (+4 attack, +4 bonus for using a whip) on the nearest orc, with a reach of 15 feet.

OoC: Could we get a map? Nevermind, sorry, missed the post with the map.
