d20 Eighties

Greg K

Legend
Things about 80's TV which I detested yet many people liked:
A-Team
Knight Rider
He-Man
GI Joe
Thundercats
Transformers
Smurfs

On the otherhand, we did get Robotech, MacGuyver, and Miami Vice. Therefore, I guess 80's TV was not all bad.

I'm with ya on Thundercats, but everything else was awesome... which 80's were YOU living in? :)

There are no web pictures of me from the 1980's on the web, but imagine this all-too common sight:
5'7" 193lbs

Sony Walkman pumping tapes with Metal (Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dokken etc.) or New-Wave (U2, Devo, Siouxsie & the Banshees, etc.)

Black semi-mesh T-shirt.

Black & White button up short sleeve shirt worn open over it. Pattern? 8 panels, each with a different pattern (stars, chevrons, lightning bolts, hawaiian, etc).

Black & White Velcro fly pants, super baggy (but not parachute) with an op-art/3-D illusion/TV interference pattern.

Black & White Suspenders with either 1) Peace Symbols or 2) Skull and Crossbones (almost gave them to Geoff Tate at an Operation: Mindcrime publicity & autograph session).

Platinum White Sperry Top-Siders...without socks

Black wraparound bug-eyed sunglasses...(similar to Bono's Zooropa glasses)

Mullet and/or ponytail down to my shoulderblades. Goatee. Jon Butcher had NOTHING on my hair!

Did I mention I'm black?

BTW...I liked "Bullets & Mullets"

Bullets and Mullets

We have a title anyway!

In the UK, it'd be stuff like the Thatcher years in government, CND marches and anti-nuclear campaigners, the miners strike, city yuppies and redevelopment of London's docklands. TV: Edge of Darkness, Dr Who with Ace as assistant, ridiculous hairstyles - Use Hairspray has to be a skill!

Unattainable Ideal
Just watched Buckaroo Banzai last night (for like the fourth time -- originally saw it in the theatres).

Sigh.

Perfect Tommy, Reno, Pinky, New Jersey, Penny... where are you now?
