BIG DAMN HEROES - a d20 Firefly Campaign [IC]

Helsinki, female gun griffon

Helsinki frowns slightly, catching the odd look in Jon's eye's. She gives him a quick reassuring smile, then turns and heads for the stairs down to the cargo bay gantry. She spots Cash, and his rifle propped just by the door. Helsinki pauses at the top of the stairs.

"What are you doing?"

"Me? I am just lookin' after Beale, trying to figure out what it is he's taking, and hoping to disuade him from taking more than his share. You two aim to help?"

Helsinki frowns at Cash's response.

"Taking more of what?"

Helsinki pauses for a moment.

"Nevermind, I'll ask him myself. That way?" Helsinki sets of in the direction indicated.

[sblock=ooc]Beale is the Captain, right? Ex-captain really, but Hesinki doesn't know that yet. I thought he was supposed to be off somewhere sorting out some cargo.[/sblock]

Jon walks up to Cash.

"Aim to help? You got that right. The man's taking apart my ship! Yanking stuff out like he has clue what he's doing."

Jon follows Helsinki, his wrench held aggressively in his clenched fist.

Helsinki puts a hand on Jon's shoulder.

"Hold up there a moment. What are you taking about?

"Actually, nevermind. I'll ask him myself."

Helsinki sets off in the direction Cash indicated Beale could be found.

I close my eyes for a couple of hours, and everyone starts getting all wonky.

"By the way, did Beale happen to mention where he has been for the last few days?"

[sblock=OOC to Doghead]Beale is the Chief Engineer. The (Ex) Captain is Terry Meade. He took off with Naomi Oba, the Pilot. Per Watus' notes in the OC thread:

"The Captain and Oba left together after collecing the fee for cargo brought to Persephone. They were meant to be arranging a refueling. That was three days ago."[/sblock]

OOC: Actually, Beale is the Chief Engineer. And although he's odious, he is quite competent. Also, you have seen him in enough bar fights to have a health respect for his prowess as a brawler.

I think the SBLOCKS are getting a bit cumbersome. I'm going to do away with them for a while and we'll see how it goes.

Helsinki, Baxter & Cash:
Your conversation is interupted by the sound of heavy footsteps on the stairs leading to the foredeck. A moment later Beale appears with a much smaller duffel slung over his arm. He sees the three of you clustered between him and the mule and stops, his expression darkening.

"What exactly are you lot up to?" he asks.

OOC: Map attached.

Kai, Win and Bastion:
The stranger steps aside as Bastion walks past him down the ramp, his expression a mixture of confusion and bemusement. He steps down onto the tarmac, but does not appear about to leave.

Melara:
You see yet another figure join the three at the bottom of the ramp. The fierce looking stranger steps down onto the tarmac.

Finally coming upon Kai and Win, Bastian stops singing mid-verse and smiles disarmingly "Can I get you Gents a shot of real coffee"

Win takes quick stock of the newcomer with an appraising glance, and then offers a slight smile back. Deciding he likes this new stranger, but keeping his hand on his sidearm, Win replies. "Real coffee, eh? I've not 'ad a spot o' the real thing fer weeks, now. And that simulated gos se ain't worth a pint o' piss!"

OOC: Gos Se = Crap

Cash smiles, emboldened by Helsinki and Jon's presence, not to mention the close proximity of his rifle.

"Who, us?" Cash asks, shrugging in mock-sincerity.

"Just a little ship's business, Beale." Cash takes a step closer, his grin widening while echoing Beale's own words back at him, then gestures to the duffel bag. "'And that bag ain't none o' your concern. Stop tryin' to take this ship piece by piece leaving us and whatever we have left stranded dirt-side without a runnin' engine."

Beale's eyes narrow, his irritation quickly turning to anger.

"I told ya once to step aside, Doc. I ain't gonna tell ya again."
