Off to War - Duet (Jareth)

HolyMan

Thy wounds are healed!
"Killed your pa huh?" the young man says taking a hand through his hair to wipe the sweat from his brow. "So you get the one dat did it yet?"

Before Jareth can answer the call to start up again comes and the young man trots to his postion under the stern gaze of the older man in the furred coat.

Jareth is silently grateful for the call to continue. Even so, he says under his breath, "I don't even know who executed him..."

He hitches his gear and pack up again and keeps his place in the lineup.

HolyMan

Thy wounds are healed!
Traveling another two miles across the mountains (at least it isn't up hill anymore), Jareth and the group come to a ridge overlooking a narrow ravine, the drop almost a hundred feet down.

"The Treylor are holed up there." the furred coated man says pointing to a black dot in the side of the moutain. The cave mouth is small but what is interesting is the rocks all about. "When the army has attacked the Treylor come out, hide behind the stones and pepper them with arrows."

He points down the ravine to where it narrows even more hardly ten feet wide. "The army can't get by that spot there, but if we engage the Treylor it may slow up their attacks and let us some help through. They will be hard pressed from both sides."

The other four men have an excited but conserved look about them. They seem tense just as anyone with a chance to die might, but they also look... eager. Jareth has to wonder what he looks like to them.

I'm a little confused... Please correct me if I'm wrong, but what I am understanding is the ridge is 100' above the ravine bottom/floor. At one end of the ravine, there is an entry into a cave of some sort, and there is a lot of rubble strewn around. Said rubble has been used as cover by the Treylor from which to launch their arrows whenever the army attacks.

And I (personally) have no idea where exactly my group is in relation to the cave mouth...

The fur coat man looks over everyone giving Jareth a longer look than most. "You all ready?" he asks the group. All of them nod, hefting their weapons as they look out over the edge.

He moves down the line patting each man on the shoulder and uttering a word that Jareth doesn't quite catch. The man whose shoulder he pats grins and stands ready.

"What about you? Are you ready?" he asks coming to stand near Jareth.

[sblock=Well are you? :p]

How about a stat block in your next post. I know you don't have to chose spells but your AC/HP/other nick nacks would be nice. thanks in advance[/sblock]

"Hrmph," the man grunts at Jareth. He takes and points a finger in the air and a magical bolt of light shoots high into the sky from it.

He waits till the bolt fades in mid-air then says, "Alright boys, Jump!"

Jareth watches in horror as the four other men leap from the cliff ledge. He rushes as close to it as he can and sees them not flailing and falling fast but floating as if they were a feather on the wind.

"Your turn," the sorcerer grunts placing a hand on Jareth's shoulder and giving him a shove. "Over you go."

[sblock=OOC] I think you know what I'm looking for here, have fun with your next post. [/sblock]

The oath dies in his mouth, unsaid, as he goes over the edge. First, his thoughts turn to a mix of fear and anger, but it doesn't last as the experience itself breaks through.

Drifting gently down, he looks around the ravine and up at the sky, marveling. He reaches out and grabs a leaf as it spirals down near him, holding it up and momentarily forgetting just why he is out here...

As his feet touch ground, the 'why' leaps back to the forefront, smothering his small enjoyment. The leaf falls from his hand as his eyes regain their hard composure, the plant matter soon crushed beneath moving feet...

Catching up to the others he sees them already in a spearhead formation hiding amongst the rocks. The younger man nods to a postion across from him behind the behemoth with the spiked club and Jareth takes up the postion.

"Good," the older man says softly as he comes forward standing in the middle. "Now we just wait for the army to start their assault and then we move in."

Jareth waits quietly with the others his ears straining to catch the sounds of the fighting when it starts.

[sblock=OOC] great post above and I will start this combat tonight after work and football. ;) I think we are ready. [/sblock]

Jareth nods tightly, knuckles going white as he grips his spear. His ears strain to pick up sounds of the assault. Waiting here was like waiting on the field of Harkon... No, actually. This was too different. Harkon was an outnumbered battle. This is a small strike team, working in concert with an army. This is what my magic is for,[/color Jareth thinks, a grim smile creasing his features. And I'll be able to put it to much better use here.
