I got my first set of 1E books from my first DM, who was then running 2E. I picked up 2E myself, and I picked up 3.0E when 3.5 came into print and they were running cheap. I've only got the 3.5 PHB, since interest, money and need never came together to get the rest of them. (And with the SRD and 3.0 books, what am I really missing?) I've only got the 4E PHB, but I've got the Pathfinder Corebook and Bestiary (and Gamemaster Guide, but I don't consider that core.)

I think it would be interesting to compare the numbers for the core books with just the PHB; I think you might get different numbers in places.)

On my "active gaming" shelves: Original D&D + Supplements, 1e AD&D
On my "reference" shelves: Holmes, '81 B/X, '83 BECMI and RC
In storage boxes: 2e AD&D, 3.0 D&D, Castles & Crusades

Never bought 3.5, 4e, or Pathfinder (and have never played Pathfinder).

Oh, I also have copies of OSRIC, Swords & Wizardry, & Labyrinth Lord. The first two are on my "reference" shelves. Labyrinth Lord I gave to my eldest son (high school), so I guess it's really his, not mine. He's been running a game for his friends for the past couple years. They play twice a week (!) during the school year and about three times a month during the summers. Oh, to have such free time!

At one point I had:

1e
Blue Box D&D
BEC D&D box sets
Rules Cyclopedia
2e (both prints)
3.0
3.5
4e (both English and Chinese language versions)
Essentials

I have the core books for 3E, 2E, the PHB and DMG for 4E and the DMG for 1E. I also have nearly all the Ravenloft material from the 2E era.

EDIT: 3.5 as well.

Shame this isn't a open poll - I mean, we can't view the voters. Cause I'm really not buying the fact that people here have as many 1e core sets as 3.5 E core sets.
