9.80 m/s^2. I knew I should have looked up up before posting. It must be my innate hatred of this book and all it stands for (and I like physics).

Horacio makes an excellent point. It's like all those Disney movies where they fly with magnets. Science just doesn't work the same in a movie. Especally in a Kung Fu movie.
