Pathfinder 1E Sword of Valor, Wrath of the Righteous AP Part 2 with your hosts Scotley and MLeibrock

[sblock=Recap] In case you've forgotten: You arrived at Valas Gift which has been left in ruins. Whoever or whatever attacked seems to have taken delight in destruction. No bodies or livestock can be found and you locate no recent graves. The attackers either took what the killed or ate it. The buildings are shattered and burned in a way that suggests wanton destruction. It would not have been necessary to knock the buildings down and burn them to get at what was inside. For all that the destruction seems haphazard. Here and there you find a barrel of food or cask of cooking oil untouched. Some buildings are completely destroyed while other seem to have been just bashed a bit and then ignored. The attack was chaotic to say the least. Some folk seem to have escaped. At least you see footprints leading away here and there. Animal tracks as well. Strange clawed or hooved footprints of demonic creatures can be seen as well. It appears the attackers left in the direction you plan to travel while the locals seem to have scattered to all points of the compass. The long strides suggest they fled in terror. Following a couple of trails you quickly determine they did not stop. They have gone far to escape. It might take days to locate any survivors. You decided to leave at first light but your sleep was interrupted by the Kithanginian. The next stop is Vilareth Ford which is still a day and a half away. This is where you are now. [/sblock]

Sheldon holds a torch in his right hand, watching the army arrive as word spreads. sticking the torch but in the ground he then calls all of the paladins to formation and then attention. He pauses a beat then speaks to all of those there, Party and army alike.

He says a prayer loud enough for all to hear, picks up the torch and lights the funeral pyre. He calls out in a clear voice the warriors send off said by all members of the army in its age old tradition:

'Lo, there do I see my father.
'Lo, there do I see my mother, and my sisters, and my brothers.
'Lo, there do I see the line of my people...Back to the beginning.
'Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them.
In the halls of Valhalla...Where the brave...May live......forever

Then Sir Sheldon weeps tears of rage; against this evil in his beloved land; against the interlopers; against the deception.
When the pyre is finished burning he says to the camp cleric, "It is time to go, yes?"

Meliara slows her pace to catch her breath as she passes near Nurah. "Anything happening here in camp?" She asks her, resting her hands on her knees.

Nurah doesn't volunteer any information. You don't know off hand who's tent it was, but no one else appears to be inside at the moment. You'd have to ask around or search it to find out...

Damn, I could have saved a lot on holy water, she muses pensively to herself.

"I'll be back at the tents," is all she says though, as she heads off.

[sblock=Shayuri]Didn't mean to still your thunder there. I assure you, that there will be ample need for holy water before the adventure is over. I was just trying to keep things simple, but as always wandering off cannon can cause issues. I'll try to make it up to you at some point.[/sblock]

(OOC - hahaha, no worries man! Thorn fights demons, but that doesn't mean she knows everything about them! She always just assumed that they don't burn when they're alive, so they don't burn when they're dead, and never tested that theory. So that's on her! )

Meliara explains what she saw, the demon and her comrades fighting, and killing it, and what they suspect happened to the locals. After that she takes her dragon and retires.

In the morning she solemnly attends the service for the fallen paladin. After the service and she is all packed, she says to the group, "I suppose we should expect more of what happened last night on our journey to Vilareth Ford. We should come up with some plan of attack in case that happens again. Splitting up is probably not the best idea if we can help it. I fear Sir Sheldon would have lost his life if Thorn did not show up when she did, and she could have lost her life too before the rest of us arrived."

Banaq, still feeling like he was totally ineffectual in the battle, and basically nothing but a liability to his companions, says nothing, just tries to be unobtrusive and keep as close to the middle of the gathering of his friends, the bad-a$$es, as possible.
