[IC] SWS/DnD5, Star Wars the Old Republic – A Gathering Darkness

Some times before:
The gand can connect the mining camp although there is a lot of static. You could rely your message to Footfall and Rell through their rely but they might be able to listen in...
The ponchoed one buzzes softly to itself. whirrrr "Perfection."

What better way to convince Czerka the message is legitimate than having someone 'intercept' it?

She waits until the communication goes through, then starts playing the audio for Vivian Rell without comment.

OOC: Hoping word about the guardians and demons will get out amongst the mine personnel.

Assuming a poor front-flip from Reks, Jihahna looks away awkwardly to save his embarrassment, hushing Thirteen if he wishes to make a comment.

bzzzzz ssssttttkkkk "This is Rell, go ahead with your report? Did you make contact with the Kwi?" sssskkkk

GM: Note that you can assume you contacted Vivian before you got here, any report you make will not have an impact on the mercs... except maybe to warn them you are coming here...

Kacela drives the landspeeder towards the sounds of battle and slows when it reaches the large log. Blaster fire flashes can be seen through the mist and it sounds like they are coming closer to where the speeder is parked. This Gand and Cal get ready to move forward and Reks flips out of the landspeeder and lands on the muddy ground. It is not as graceful as he had hope but at least he maintains his footing. Thirteen is hiding more or less at the foot of the landspeeder.

GM: A 12 is good enough to at least land on your feet as you are not trying to preform anything special. AND remember if you want you have Force Points that can add 1d4+1 to any 1d20 roll and you can use them after you have rolled. You only need a 15 if you wanted to stand from a prone position to your feet without it using 1/2 your movement. So right now it used half your movement to jump out of the landspeeder.

Now that the landspeeder if 50m closer to where the mercs where it appears the mercs are also moving in this direction. They are around 100m away although you cannot see any of them through the undergrowth or mist... this would be when this Gand and Cal where planning to Stealth forward. IF anyone else wants to also they can. We could also make it a group stealth check, taking the average of what the team rolls. I don't want to say if they have disadvantage or not as you are not sure of what they are doing. It appears that they are in a firefight but with who or what you do not know... They could just be firing at nothing and be hyper vigilant looking for something or someone to come out of the mist at them.

OOC: I didn't think of hypervigilance as a possibility

Jihahna decided given they were coming this way that she would park behind the biggest log or preferably rock formation she could find nearby. Why were they coming in this direction and firing? Maybe they were retreating? If that were the case, they should be in speeders... With a little paranoia, Jihahna turns the mid range communicator off before activating her rifle.

With her blaster rifle activated, she lines up the sights as best as possible and readies herself for action.

OOC:

Turning off the mid range communicator after this gand makes his transmission, but not before what has happened in Greenkarls post so far.

Jihahna will try and either stay in the speeder maybe kneeling with her action readied to fire (*sigh, on stun) or she will sort of lie prone on top of the cover with her feet dangling over the speeder if the cover isn't too high. If the cover is too high, Jihahna will climb up and lie prone on top ready to fire.

bzzzzz ssssttttkkkk "This is Rell, go ahead with your report? Did you make contact with the Kwi?" sssskkkk
guttural drone roll click "These ones did, Vivian Rell." click slurr jumble clacketty hum "The Kwi fear digging will wake guardian demons." jumble drone, click mumble slurr jumble whirr clacketty "The Jedi feel something underneath, though these ones do not yet know what, where or how close to the mine site." Low-whirr click "Please listen."

OOC: Is there a problem with playing the recording, GK? Either technical or something the gand should have thought of (but obviously didn't :))? Insight roll in case it's the later: You know...: 1D20+2 = [1]+2 = 3. Nothin' wrong here!

OOC2: Still planning to sneak and see what's going on, now with a force point: Yee swampy spirits of stealth: 1D4+1 = [4]+1 = 5 + 6 for a total of 11...

GM: Problem with playing the recording? No there would not be any. Contacting Footfall and Vivian yes because of atmospheric interference, not optimal conditions and the distance. You can play back whatever Thirteen translated to her. You have to rely through the mining camp but your message gets through to her

This Gand, Cal and Reks start making their way forward into the mist. Only 20 meters forward a speederbike flashes by them doing well over 200kph. It move by so fast that no one really has a chance to stop it or see it in great detail except that its a Waxin-Arms W3 Heavy Combat Bike with an unmanned sidecar...

[sblock=speederbike]
speederbike.jpg
There is a sidecar attacked to the bike but only the pilot is seen as it flashes by.
[/sblock]

The bike also speeds by where the landspeeder is hidden and disappears back the trail without pausing or slowing down. Whoever the pilot is, he is either an extremely skilled to be flying that fast or extermely crazy. The chances of crashing in the jungle are fairly high.

The three sneaking forward continue on for another 30 meters or so when figures start appearing out the mist... humanoid figures. It looks like about a dozen beings of various species, all dressed in light combat armor whom seem to be mostly concentrating on looking back the way they were moving. Every now and again one of them fires off a blaster shot at something farther back in the mist that you cannot see.They seem half panicked, ready to run, except for the voice of one seems to be steadying them.

"Steady you dogs, their just be beasts. Move in an orderly fashion and we get out of this damn swamp and can maneuver again. Stop yer whining!"

About then a large lizard-like bird swoops down out of the mist to try and land on one of the mercs and the gets shot by two or three bolts before it can attack and it falls into the swamp.

"HA!" shouts the one steadying the men "See I told ye, just stupid animals!"

[sblock=mercs]Basic mercs

merc leader?
merc leader.jpg[/sblock]

GM: There are 12 mercenaries (including the leader) on foot and about 50 meters away from the three players Cal, this Gand and Reks. They have not noticed you yet. Kacela and Jinahna, along with the landspeeder are 50 meters back and can't see the mercs yet (to much fog and mist and 'stuff' in the way). The fog counts as Lightly Obscure for the three out front. You don't see any more of the lizard birds or another other speederbikes but there is an occasional blaster fire well off the path every now and again that seems to be moving pretty quick.

This Gand can make an INT check DC 10 to remember something from her notes about the lizard bird things. If she makes it...

[sblock=DC10 INT check]Saurian flies, also knowns as saurian, and reptilian flies by the miners are a species of winged reptavians. A number of these creatures attacked the miners and settlers on the planet when they first made planetfall on Dathomir. The creatures were highly aggressive and have a thick leathery hide, sharp claws and a hardened beak like mouth full of razor sharp teeth. They have been encountered by the miners both in the jungles, the swamps and in the mountains, although the coloration seems different for each area they have been seen. You would have to read over your files to gain anything more, although you remember that their is not a lot of information on these creatures.[/sblock]

The mercs are moving and either readying or attacking each round, so they are moving back down the trail towards the landspeeder at 12 meters a round. So it will take then 8 rounds to reach the landspeeder and they will reach the hiding spot of the three players in 4 rounds if you don't move. You can move back to the rest of the team or you can do something here if you want.

If you attack this round you have Surprise and Advantage on any attack rolls and the range is 50 meters. Regular range for a blaster carbine or rifle, long range for a pistol.

Kacela gives the others a few seconds lead, then follows in their trail. She's no great shakes at moving unseen...her background was a different circle entirely. She was at home among the swirl of people and the press of crowds, but her Jedi training and natural talents gave her a certain surety of foot.

Hopefully it would be enough.

Stealth! [roll0]

A bit before:

The gand starts playing the audio of the translated bits for Vivian Rell without further comments.

Anything back from Rell?

===

Back in the swamp, Silently crouching by a dirty puddle to the right of a mossy, rotten bole, the gand relies on her poncho to break up her form, and on her reddish compound eyes to do the rest...

OOC: 3 questions: Are any of them injured? Any sign of the skiff or repulsorlift they seemed to have when they left the landing area (did it come through here going in and they lost it in that explosion or something?). And any sign of the Kwi?

Perception with advantage: Recon is as recon does: 2D20.HIGH(1)+4 = [11, 5]+4 = 15

Int roll: flying menace: 1D20+2 = [10]+2 = 12

[sblock=for this Gand]
#1 one or two look injured but they are still walking on their own two feet.
#2 no sign of the Skiff, except for the "path" you are on was obviously created with flame throwers and a heavy blaster rifle.
#3 no sign of any Kwi with your roll.[/sblock]

Kacela makes it up to the rest of the party behind the mercs coming this way. Reks starts crawling up a nearby tree. So far the mercs still have not noticed the team and move to just under 40 meters from their present position...

====

EDIT: Rell replies back "Excellent work, now if you can save the Kwi in the area..."
