[IC] SWS/DnD5, Star Wars the Old Republic – A Gathering Darkness

"Excellent work, now if you can save the Kwi in the area..."

guttural whirr drone, jumble clacketty "These ones will see what can be done, Vivian Rell." After a pause: cruck mumble whirr jumble drone click "Should Czerka Mining be warned of the other matter?" drone mumble WHIRR "Digging might be dangerous..."

He looks around the breezy, occasionally leaf-swept landspeeder, offering the communicator for anybody who wishes to add something.

The gand looks back as Kacela comes up, then discretely gestures to the pair of wounded mercs, to the burnt-out trail of the repulsorcraft -- which goes into the swamp but doesn't come back. click jumble drone, whirr "The Kwi seem to be doing well," whispers the female voice on its lowest volume.

Vivian replies back ssssskkkkkkiccc "OK I will contact the mining camp and Czerka... I am not sure if they will accept the warning as valid or if we are not trying to trick them... but thanks for the warning none the less..." kkkiiiiiikkkk

The mercs continue to move back towards where part of the team is hidden, again a few firing. Now that they are closer the team also can see some of the lizard-bird things in the mist... they seem to be circling above the mercs, darting in and out of the fog for only the briefest of instances.

GM: The mercs move to 26 meters away from the team. I will wait a bit to see if Jinahna was going to move up also (and then she would be here with the team) or stay back at the landspeeder.

Nervous about being separated from her group, Jihahna still decideds it to be crucial to guard Thirteen at all costs. She stops looking through the sights for a moment and nervously looks about her for any sign of ambush for her and the droid.

_: 1D20+2 = [18]+2 = 20

Perhaps she is paranoid, but she cannot risk compromising the security of Thirteen even though she wants to see battle. Jihahna was in her element now. In battle, over her emotions, she had control...

...as the mercs had moved back and the forwarding team had noticed the lizard-birds in the mist and fog above, when one of the lizard-birds swoops down towards Reks who is trying to hide in one of the trees!!! Cal and this Gand also both see the creature coming out of the mist while the others did not. The pair also notice at least two other lizard-birds circling the team, focusing on Reks and this Gand!!

Back at the landspeeder Jihahna starts looking around and is surprised to see a speederbike come out of the fog and turn onto the main trail they are hiding on. At first the pilot nor the gunner in the sidecar notice the landspeeder but then one of them points at it and shout "Hey who's that!?"

GM: For initiative during the Surprise Round, with Initiative Order...
Cal
Lizard-Bird
This Gand

The mercs have not noticed you BUT any blaster fire, etc. will probably alert them to your presence.

The rest of the team can make an initiative check for the First Round.

Jihahna can also roll initiative. The pair in the speederbike are not surprise and neither is she. They are 50 meters back down the trail from here (normal range for a Blaster Carbine). The pilot has a holstered pistol and the gunnner in the sidecar has a light repeating blaster rifle mounted onto the sidecar

OOC: Jihahna initiative _: 1D20+5 = [13]+5 = 18

Jihahna jumps out of the landspeeder and either uses it or the log as cover (preferably the log). As she does so, she takes fire at the driver of the speederbike. "Stay down Thirteen. Don't move", she yells to the droid in Huttesse.

Attack:

_: 1D20+5 = [19]+5 = 24
2D8+2 = [6, 2]+2 = 10

Sorry, i didn't update my own copy of my character sheet, so the damage bonus for my attack is incorrect. It should have been 2d8+4 (+5point blank), so result is 12 damage (stun), rather than 10.

guttural whirr click "We are all sentients here," philosophically remarks the gand before concluding the exchange. (Unless somebody else wants a go, of course).

===

The gand moves his bulky wrist-comm in front of her covered mouth: slur click "Reks Seviir." whirRR "Above."

OOC: Talking is a free action, right? ;) Hoping to (somewhat?) mitigate the effects of surprise on Reks.

OOC: Are there any nearby spot(s) that might make flying difficult/disastrous for our winged friends, GK? Strurdy/close set trees, an overhang/hollow under a big boulder, that sort of thing?

Reacting to this Gand's warning, Reks looks up and see the Saurian Flier swoop down to attack him! Cal is able to get a quick blaster carbine shot off that hits the creature square but its leathery hide and size absorb much of the energy and the creature lands and bite the young Padawan in the shoulder. It tied to hold on on but lands badly in the tree next too him.

Most of the mercenaries turn and at least glance back at the characters, one of them yelling "Who the frak are those people?". The leader type shouting "Probably Republic beast lover scum!"

Meanwhile back at the landspeeder, Jinahna takes a quick shot that sends the pilot of the speederbike reeling and knocks him out! The bike however simply spots and remaining hovering, allowing the gunner sitting in the sidecar to curse and spray the landspeeder with light blaster fire! Jinahna takes a nasty burn as she tries to duck for cover...

GM: Surprise Round (rolls in the OOC)
Cal fires and hits for 16 points of damage (Saurian Flier Damage Threshold is 18, so it is ok), reducing its Hit Points down to 9HP remaining
Saurian Flier attack (normal attack due to this Gand's warning, otherwise these attacks would have been at advantage), the bite hits for 7 damage (reducing Reks to 33HP remaining) and the claw misses.

It is now this Gand turn. You still have an Action that you can take (talking was a free action). The Saurian Flier is in melee combat with Reks so you are at a Disadvantage to fire into melee combat with him.

After that it is the parties turn to react and take their actions. Then the Saurian Fliers will go, then the mercs

Back at the landspeeder, the pilot is knocked out but the autopilot (the INT) of the speederbike allows it to simply hover instead of crash. The gunner misses a DC 12 Ref (10 +2 for cover) so Jinahna takes8 damage, reducing her HP to 26, and as it did not meet or exceed her Damage Threshold she is not under the Reeling condition (see rules or I can post a refresher in the OOC).

The landspeeder takes 16-5 DR or 9 points, bring it down to 26HP

Jinahna goes first next round then the gunner...

Stealth no longer being an option, the gand ratchets the volume on the vocoder back to normal: guttural slur drone jumble click "These ones have been hired by the Survey Corp," it agrees. She raises her arm and lets off a heavy blaster shot at the giant bird-thing threatening Reks. A dip of her hooded head, fluted-jumble clicketty "Nice to meet you."

A pause as compound eyes look them over... click whirr jumble low-mumble "Could those ones use some assistance?"

OOC: First Attack: Hitchcock flashbacks: 1D20+5 = [14]+5 = 19 3D8+4 = [6, 7, 2]+4 = 19 lethal
Second attack with Bonus action as per Pistoleer: 1D20+5 = [15]+5 = 20 3D8+4 = [7, 2, 1]+4 = 14 Lethal on the next saurian lining up to dive
Move: Walk to a spot next to a broken, folded-up tree so diving fliers are at a disadvantage (or whatever works).

EDIT: Forgot the disadvantage on the second one: disadv: 1D20+5 = [13]+5 = 18. Still a hit!

"DAMN IT!" Jihahna cried out after seeing the blaster fire land several times on the speeder. She feared for Thirteen.

Taking the hit to her arm, now Jihahna was mad. The adrenaline surged as her breathing slowed, almost deepening from the effect of what would happen next. Her pupils dilated.

She sprinted out of cover towards any other cover that might be closer to the enemy, this time trying to separate herself from Thirteen.

OOC:
Spending a force point to activate Jihahna's resistance.

Moving Jihahna closer to the enemy speeder, however, she will want to try and finish behind cover. Otherwise she will move sideways instead of directly towards it. Using cover is priority, followed by moving closer.

If possible, she will avoid using full cover as she wants to make certain she is targeted instead of the speeder.

Waiting for an answer, the gand shifts towards aerial cover - a broken and folded-over tree by the side of the merc's trail - arm raising up for a simultaneous shot at the misty saurian circlers...

It should look where it's going though: her armored boot goes down in the mire, way deeper than she was expected. With a warble of surprise she tumbles, crashing head first in a ponchoed heap! His heavy blaster goes off too, the beam exploding wet ground to rain back down on her chitinous head.

If her eyes could have blinked in astonishment, they probably would...

OOC: that's the nat 1 on her last attack. :) This round, ready action to shoot the next saurian that breaks misty cover: class clown: 1D20+5 = [6]+5 = 11; 3D8+4 = [6, 4, 6]+4 = 20. Perception to spot those elusive Kwi: Compound interest: 1D20.HIGH(1)+4 = [12]+4 = 16
