I went Paladerererererer. Now have a base AC of 26 and can Haste and Shield! And then, of course, SMITE!

Notice that he is holding his shield upside down, which is, of course, a universal sign of surrender. He is desperately trying to avoid being pushed backwards off the ledge into the abyss behind him. The rest of the party are behind the camera, taking the pictures.What actually happened? The party went in and had the adventure.
The image, of course, is based on the Paladin's recounting of events, which curiously omitted the rest of the party.
Yes, he is holding it oddly, but he's actually proficient with using the shield as a weapon- that orientation alllows for a nasty punch...
Also, how is the chimaera "taking pictures"?

You missed the most important option of all: the "generic" paladin, because the oaths are too intrusive. If the subclass has to have a name with oath in it, then it should be the oath of smiting paladin.
To make it in line with the often-requested "generic" wizard and "generic" sorcerer, the oath of smiting paladin should a) be a 9th level caster, b) should be able to get a number of divine smites that don't require a spell slot equal to their proficiency bonus, and c) should get metamagic and sorcery points. I don't really know why c), but I am basing this on definitions of "generic" on the forums, and that seems to be a central part of it.
The oath of smiting paladin is important to my character concept: my PC is better than yours. And nothing says paladin like that.
