Forever too soon.
Still too soon.
Still too soon.
That is fine, but every time someone asks for an old setting to be updated to 5e, someone else says: "why would you want that, you already have...." The fact that old stuff exists doesn't stop people from wanting an updated version of it and they don't need someone else to tell them that don't really need or want that. That does kinda feel crappy. If they want it, who are you tell them they don't.LOL!
Your threshold to "crapping thread" is extremely low.
I convert Mystara to 5e regularly and very easily.
It's a forum. I expressed my opinion in a polite and respectful way. If people can't stand reading contrary opinions, to their taste and desires, maybe they shouldn't interacting on forums and stay find virtual "safe places" on Facebook Groups with super strict rules. That is fine, but every time someone asks for an old setting to be updated to 5e, someone else says: "why would you want that, you already have...." PS - I don't personally care about Mystara (or any classic setting).
No idea why people want a 5e Mystara setting.
BargleloftDo you know of another setting whose most famous inhabitant is Bargle?
That was over 4 decades ago. And yes, too soon. I still get weepy when thinking of Aleena . . .I vote Aleena's Guide to Mystara. It would be a shorter book.
. . . too soon?
How aboutAfter Van Richten's Guide to Ravenloft, I'd like to see Bargle's Guide to Mystara.
Any takers?
I'm going to join in on the groans. Really? No idea why people want a 5e Mystara setting.
You have B/X, BECMI and the Rules Cyclodpedia that are a perfect fit for the setting. The Gazetteers and modules are on Drivethru rpg. You can also use Old School Essentials with the Advanced add-on if you want more classes. You probably have a large collection of dead wood original rule books, gazetteers and modules.
If you insist on playing 5e you can do the conversion very easily from B/X. Goodman games did a good job with the first B modules. There is a 5e Mystara Bestiary in PDF for free. All you need to do is convert a few setting NPCs the party might meet before a game. Really not an insurmountable mountain.
If I was WoTC I wouldn't touch Mystara with a 100' pole. Too many things can go wrong and the grognard hate would be epic and infinity. Probably why WoTC they won't do it either.
(p.s: I love Mystara. Bought all the Gazetteers in the 90s.)
Out of curiosity- why the hate for Joshoun’s & Poor Wizard Almanac?
