D&D General Baldur's Gate 3 will now be releasing August 3rd on PC and September 6th on PS5, increased level cap, race & class details and more

Planescape 2 doesn't need to be a sequel with the Nameless again, and a new main character should allow more storytelling options to the screenwritters. But some "old friends" could return, and that would be right.

I don't like a CRPG fight where only you have to do the same time after time and the only strategy is a combo of buff and nerfing against enemies. It is really ridiculous when a simple swordman can attack a soldier with a rifle, and a second again is again in the original space. Those combats so simple are for mobile and tablet games.

If Dark Sun was licenced for a videogame style "Conan Exiles" we shouldn't suffer controversies about the sorcerer-kings or like this, should we?

* What about a D&D virtual skirmishes game style Moonbreaker, Mordheim: City of Damned or Necromunda: Underhive Wars? And with a fre-style mode to playtest your own house rules.

All three games you listed were objectively failures on every level, except possible artistically with Moonbreaker. None of them even have good gameplay.

And financially?

They were all failures. Massive failures.

So why would on earth would you pitch a D&D version of something that was a massive failure? So D&D/BG3 can have a game/mode that's a massive failure too?

Absolutely you would have controversies. D&D has a very different audience to Conan Exiles, and people would absolutely not be happy with a similar approach. There's zero possibility of such a game. Also "survival n' murder" is a dated genre that was largely played by chuds and trolls at the best of times (with some honorable exceptions)

These are both genuinely bad ideas.

Just to add to the point re: how widespread talk about BG3 has now becoming in gaming circles, Diablo 4 released a terrible patch today, an insult to the entire playerbase, easily the worst patch I've seen for any game in 20 years (early EQ being closest). They nerfed virtually everything every class, every spec, every method of gaining XP and gold (NM dungeons least, but they still got it). They nerfed damage (massively) and survivability (significantly) across the board, and all this after a patch header which said "We don't want to nerf anyone, we only want to buff", and then had the single worst set of nerfs in gaming history. It was basically this as a patch note:

Anyway, point is, people are pissed to put it mildly, and what game were they largely talking about? Baldur's Gate 3. Just huge amounts of people going "This is awful, but at least Baldur's Gate 3 is coming out soon!" or "I just heard about this BG3, it sounds really cool!" and so on.

Which is not what I expected from a giant pile of Diablo players, I must admit. But it bodes well for BG3.

EDIT - For example, the new Sorcerer Unique randomly teleports you:

it's got these final fantasy style cut scenes
No, it doesn't.

It has Dragon Age/Mass Effect/Witcher-style conversations where you make conversation choices or decisions and things happen, but it's fully animated. That's what they're talking about.

Final Fantasy-style cutscenes are purely cinematic and non-interactive, you just watch things happen. There's literally one of those in the first Act of the game - the nautiloid crash - and I can't imagine there are many more in full game.

Well, I would consider the crash an extension of the opening cut scene. But there is a bit later on where you can jump down a very deep hole (with or without featherfall) that has no interaction. I mean, the could have had:

1. "Arrrrgh!"
2. "NOOOOO!!!"
3. "Curiouser and Curiouser!"
4. [focused silence]

Finally someone showed the female half-orc faces! And they are great, a right mix of... not pretty, but certainly not ugly!

(from Youtuber WolfheartFPS's video on character creation)

So many of the premade faces being so boring had gotten me a bit worried...
