I accord everyone a certain minimum level of respect, but it is easy to lose. Failing to adhere to Wheaton's Law, confusing there/they're/their, etc.
I don't put anybody on a pedestal, however. There's a maximum level of respect I'll accord people, and if I find myself treating someone too grandly, I'll do some stern self-examination to see why, and knock those people down a peg or two in my estimation. Everyone is flawed. Nobody deserves instant unquestioned obedience.
