Painting looks great and the sculpts are nice as well. The only thing that detract is the throne form or deformed rather with the front popping a wheelie. Is this a newer or older bones set of you don’t mind me asking. I was in for the first set way back when but the soft plastic wasn’t what I liked but the firmer gray/black lines have been better to me.
Yeah, I gotta fix that. It's Bones 6, so Bones Black, I think, but you still get some bending if it is packed wrong.

Here’s a trick I picked up from a modeler who works on plastic cars when he wants a rusted effect. This is a Fallout miniature, a robot Nuka Cola mascot, I start by giving it a base coat of metal.

For the next step, it’s important you give the paint a little time to cure. I waited two hours but you probably don’t need to wait that long. Get the model wet and put some salt on that sucker. I used regular and kosher salt.

Now let this completely dry. I’m leaving this out overnight.

The salt has dried and this is what you end up with.

I should have said I painted the red layer using my airbrush. You might be able to use a regular brush if you’re careful though. One thoroughly dry, I waited an hour, I took an old brush and started knocking off the salt.

Had I thought about it, I would have painted a rust color before applying the red. But I’m going to use some Dirty Down Rust and some other weathering effects instead.

I forgot that I’d need to add details before I start weathering.

Other than the base, you could call this done but I’d like to weather it a bit more. This is the point of the project I’m afraid of ruining by doing more. i.e. Should I quit while I’m ahead?

Another mini from Archon Studios. The Observer because I think beholder was already taken. At $19 dollars, it's well worth the price. I don't think it's all that great for a beginner, the way the tentacles twist around make them a little difficult to paint, but for $19 I'm not complaining too much.

I laid down a base of red, pin washed with purple, then I dry brushed with white, and followed that up with a glaze of red. On the blue section, I used blue, dry brushed with white, and then I slapped on a green glaze.
