D&D 5E CleverNickName's Laboratory: Let's Make Cantrip Magic Items

Bag of Magic Marshmallow
wondrous item, rare, (requires attunement)

This small pouch appears to be made from an opaque vellum, yet is as sturdy as leather.

When attuned, a character may use the Bag of Magic Marshmallow once per day to cast Goodberry by taking an action to reach their hand into the bag and pulling out 2d4+2 fluffy white squares of confectionary. These fluffy white squares are sweet, soft, and squishy. Eating one of the fluffy white squares restores 1HP and provides enough nourishment to sustain a creature for on day. Any fluffy white squares that have not been consumed within 24 hours lose their nourishment and healing properties, but may still be eaten.

While attuned to the Bag of Magic Marshmallow, a character also gains the ability to cast the Create Bonfire cantrip and the Friends cantrip.

2 Memoirs for Sister Sara
wondrous item, unique, (requires attunement)

Coming as a set of two, these two books tell the story of an Erinyes who was redeemed after falling in love with a paladin during a civil war.

Attunement requires two characters to each attune to one of the books. While attuned, a character may take a minor action to determine whether the other attuned character is on the same plane or on a different plane. If the other attuned character is on a different plane, the name of the plane is known, but not their exact location.

While attuned, the set of two books gain 6 total charges. Both attuned characters are aware of how many charges the books currently hold. These charges may be used to cast the Guidance cantrip, Resistance cantrip, Shield (1st-level abjuration, sorcerer, wizard), or Divine Favor (1st-level evocation, paladin) on the other character attuned to the books, regardless of distance or planar location. The books regain charges at a rate of 1 charge per long rest, and may hold a maximum of 6 charges.

If a character chooses to un-attune from the books, attunement for the other character also ends.

SILVER SCISSORS
Weapon (dagger), uncommon (requires attunement)
These elegant silver scissors are of Elven make, and never tarnish or require sharpening. They may be wielded in combat as a silver dagger +1. While attuned to these scissors, you know the Mending cantrip.

SINNING GINNY'S LIPSTICK
Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)
This red cosmetic ointment was created by a famous local alchemist, as a gift for his favorite local escort. It is always the perfect compliment for your skin tone and outfit, and no matter how many times it is used, the little gold jar never seems to run empty. While wearing this lipstick, you know the Friends and Message cantrips.

(A bit of NPC lore from my home campaign. I borrowed Sinning Ginny from the Fallen London game, where her name is spelled with a J instead of a G.)

GIGGLEFIT'S PALM BUZZER
Ring, uncommon (requires attunement)
This small round device has a metal finger loop on the bottom, allowing it to be worn backwards on the middle finger and concealed in the palm. By all accounts, it resembles a harmless hand-buzzer prank, intended to surprise people with a handshake. However, this particular "toy" was created by Gigglefit, the infamous archfey known for taking a joke too far. While attuned to this palm buzzer, you know the Shocking Grasp cantrip.

(Another great "prank" from my campaign's infamous practical joker, Gigglefit.)

GIGGLEFIT'S SQUIRTING FLOWER
Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)
This artificial flower pendant is made from silk and silver wire, and is intended to be worn on the lapel. It resembles a harmless squirting-flower prank, the sort that might squirt people with water when they lean forward to sniff it. Alas, like most of Gigglefit's nefarious "pranks," this toy takes that joke much too far. While attuned to this pendant, you know the Poison Spray cantrip.

GIGGLEFIT'S HONKER
Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)
This small brass horn has a rubber squeeze ball attached where the mouthpiece should be. When squeezed, the horn emits a silly, distinct "a-OOO-gah" sound, followed by a few seconds of distant laughter. While attuned to this "toy" horn, you know the Thunderclap cantrip.

Lantern of the Underdark Explorer
Wondrous item, uncommon (requires attunement)

This hooded lantern appears completely mundane. However, it requires no fuel and on a bonus action can produce continual light within itself equivalent to the Continual Flame spell. This light can be extinguished with another bonus action.

Using a Magic action, you can cast the Light cantrip onto another object or person. Doing so extinguishes the light within the lantern. At the end of the cantrip's duration the light returns to the lantern, and the effect can be ended early by spending a bonus action. In addition, using a Magic action, you can cast the Daylight spell with the lantern as the target. Once used, this effect cannot be used again for 12 hours.

Finally, using a Magic action, you can cast the Word of Radiance cantrip. If you do not possess a spellcasting feature, Wisdom is your spellcasting ability when using this feature. This extinguishes the lantern and all its functions for one hour. The lantern can then be reactivated as normal using a bonus action.

Ingot from the Jade Furnace
Weapon, rare (requires attunement)

This item appears to be a tubular billet of steel with rounded edges and faint jade veining. When wielded with intent (as one might when drawing a sword), a jet of deep emerald-hued flame bursts forth from the end facing away from its wielder. This flame acts as a +1 melee weapon with the finesse, light, and graze properties, and dealing 1d8 fire damage. In addition, the wielder may cast the Green Flame Blade cantrip.
