Hmm. I have mostly* fond memories of playing this game back in the day. It doesn't look to me like the graphics are all that improved, though. Still, I never played any of the expansions, so there's that. But it uses the 3.5e rules, so there's that.

*I didn't like how the game assumed my female PC had romanced the annoying paladin companion despite my having actively avoided him. I seem to recall being forced to sit through a cut scene where the paladin and some other angsty male NPC companion tried to force my PC to choose between them even though I'd never romanced either of them.

Oh, and then there's the whole railroaded trial thing where it doesn't matter if you win or lose, you still end up having to fight that guy in a trial by combat.

I tried this one when it came out, but as someone who ran thousands of hours of DM-ed campaigns in the first game, I just couldn't get into it, mostly because it was too difficult and time-consuming to build in the NWN2 toolset.

Same. NWN1's build tools (age and graphics aside) were perfect. NWN2's were just fiddly and complicated. Something that took a minute to build in NWN1 took an hour in NWN2.

Might check this out. I played the first one last year (got in a Humble Bundle with Baldur's Gate, Planescape, etc) and thoroughly enjoyed myself, despite it being... the way it is.

I've been curious about NWN2, but as far as I can tell prior to this version the only way to get it now was on GoG and I heard it didn't run that well. At least the others had been updated for modern operating systems.
