The Book of Imaginary Beings is pretty fantastic.Big fan of the peryton. Glad it's been getting a little more show in minis and adventures.

Wearing the Lion by John Wiswell has a fantastic take on the Hydra. He’s basically an immortal beast who becomes more stupid and violent the more heads he has. So when Heracles encounters him, after having run into a few unwise (and now dead) monster hunters, he’s very stupid and violent. After Heracles burns him down to one head, he’s lucid and regretful, and quite helpful to our hero in his quest.I know it's basic, but I've always been fond of Heracles' hydra. Also ghosts. Basically anything that requires research and/or cleverness to overcome.
As an English teacher who studied more-than-a-fair-amount-of-Latin-American-lit-for-the-90's...BORGES is pretty fantastic. (I used to push to get more of him in the curriculum on a regular basis.)The Book of Imaginary Beings is pretty fantastic.
I guess I'm into things with antlers?
Borges is one of my favorite authors
