Spoilers Hey look, there's a new Robin Hood show coming with Sean Bean as the Sheriff!

Whilst D&D was probably an influence on Robin of Sherwood, Unearthed Arcana was published in the same year, 1985, and was therefore too late.

NB Morgan Freeman may not be white, but he was still the wrong ethnicity for a Saracen.
Well, to be fair, Saracen isn’t an ethnicity but a catch-all Medieval English term for “Muslim person encountered during the Crusades” so not just Palestinian, Syrian etc. IIRC Azeem states he’s a Moor (which was also a medieval English term for any Muslim with dark skin) which probably means he’s from the Maghreb region of North Africa and is more or less the correct ethnicity.

Well, Rob is up the creek without a paddle now. Another soldier skewered by an arrow, and they're all after him.

We met Little John and his dog. I guess the next few episodes we're going to see the Merry Men slowly forming.

Is there no Guy of Gisbourne in this?

Im curious how many more corners Robert is going to be put into where he is forced to kill more Normans? It's not like Earl of Huntington needed anymore reasons to hunt him down.

Looks like our very reluctant hero as finally decided to embrace it. The best episode yet. They finally seemed to capture some good exposition while pacing it with action and moving things forward.

A random straggler casually gives up their way of life and joins the band every episode. As far as impulse decisions go, that's a heckuva life choice.

So we have -- Little John, and Friar Tuck. Much the Miller's son is replaced by [whatsername?]. No Alan-a-Dale or Will Scarlet yet. Plus assorted others.

Very Robin Hoody with all the rooftop running and jumping into wagons and shooting hangman's ropes. Plus they are sprinkling in tiny hints of the supernatural, with nature spirits and dreams and stuff. All stuff that isn't too blatant so you can write if off as nothing, or you can choose to believe there's some magic going on.

I'm enjoying it more than I should. But 'Rob' himself still seems to be a bit of a dull wet blanket to me. Maybe he'll grow into it?

So far Friar Tuck is my favorite character. Thoughtful, intelligent, I like how he has been the brain of the operations in some of these endeavors. A lot better than the fat drunken Prince of Thieves version:)

I think they are spending so much time on emo Rob and the baddies that they are not really laying the conditions well for the stragglers. Lost Saxons, disillusioned clergy, etc.. Misery loves company and strange bedfellows or whatever phrase you want to use. Though, yes the depictions seem like a lot of lucky happenstance.

I think (hope) thats the case with Rob.
