Puzzles are OK, but not really my thing. I knew one person who was a nut for them though. Unfortunately, he passed a decade or so ago. Otherwise, I know of a few I’d buy for him.

Saying people should play horror games without safety tools is like saying the audience doesn’t get to know which horror movie they’re about to watch only that they’re about to watch one.

Yeah, that’s not something I’d do to anyone I liked, or might like. I myself like nearly all those movies you named…but none of them are guaranteed to please me at all times. My wants and my limits both shifted depending on what else is going on and how I feel. In experience, others are like that too.
I have to admit, this is kind of my favorite way to watch horror films. Going in with as little knowledge as possible, not knowing what to expect. It really heightens the experience. I hate spoilers, and sometimes even saying the genre can be a bit of a spoiler.
That being said, I do it voluntarily. And I have a pretty high tolerance for icky stuff. I have zero expectations of inflicting it on other people.
In fact, safety tools can help give other people the same experience with minimal risk. You tell me your triggers. I won't tell you what's in the horror movie we're going to watch, but I can tell you it won't be that.
