Heretic of The Seventh Circle
Alexander Ward would do it even better. You want Brainiac to look strange and otherworldly, but still humanoid. There's only one go-to for that; Doug Jones.

He'd be good, but I really don't think he'd be better than Jones.Alexander Ward would do it even better.
IMO Jones isnt all that creepy, and id want Braniac creepy and alien and almost spiderlike, which Ward is simply much better at.He'd be good, but I really don't think he'd be better than Jones.

That is down to Del Torro and the makeup/costume team. Any good creature actor would be creepy in that. Jones is a very good creature actor, so he sold it well.
The only one I can think of is Alan Moore’s “Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?” when Brainiac merges with Luthor in an attempt to kill Superman. They rebooted both Luthor and Brainiac a few years before the Crisis, which is when we got Braniac's skull ship and Luthor's power armor. I believe there was at least one storyline where they fought and merged pre-Crisis.
