Trailer Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan: Ghost War

Yeah and Stephen King didnt like Kubrick's The Shining. I thought Ford was great, and I have trouble seeing the Ryan character being a straight out of uni type character myself.
Ha, well the trouble with King’s perspective is we’ve also seen what he does when he’s given the creative reins onscreen, and it’s not pretty.

In the books, he comes out of the marines due to cashing out due to an injury and works for Cathy's dad at a brokerage iirc before going into government work.

in King's defense he was high on coke and doesn't remember much of that time

Haha, no - that may explain Maximum Overdrive, but it doesn’t explain his screenplay on The Shining miniseries or the streaming series Lisey’s Story. The Shining, in particular, was supposed to be his “what it would’ve been if Kubrick hadn’t messed with my book” story, and the result was sometimes it’s better to let people bring their own interpretations (particularly people who are really really good at filmmaking), Mr. King. 😁

The earliest is in his 30's and most of the stories take place in his 40's. The later novels he is even in his 60's.

Patriot Games is actually the first Ryan story chronologically in the timeline, so Ford was probably about 10 years older than Ryan ought to have been at the time. Im still good with it because it was prime Ford.
