Fighting the Gray Tide (Miniature Painting)

Sometimes you’ve got to laugh. I’ve put in a lot of effort painting the underside of the wings and I only just noticed most people won’t be able to see it when the mini is on the table.

I feel your pain. I've painted over a dozen copies of the dragon from Reaper's 02969 Familiar Pack VIII, and as you can see, his head is basically tucked under his wing when you attach his wings.

Which is annoying as hell cuz the face has sooo much character for a ridiculously small figure. So every time I paint one, I have to modify the positions of both his head and the wings and mount him on something like a tree stump or rock that tilts his front end upward so you can see the face...

Well, I pulled the trigger and pledged for Reaper's latest KS, the reformulation of their MSP paints...

I lost pretty much my entire paint collection a couple years ago, when I had no heat for an entire winter and they all froze. I haven't really painted much, if at all, since then, but maybe restarting my paint racks will jumpstart my return to painting.

I tried... I mean it's ok, but I coudn't get the blending how I wanted it and it looks very monochromatic... I tried to go for a Wedge Tail Eagle colour scheme but yeah, don't ask about the tongue and eyes, haha!
I have a hard time with contrast. At first it'll look fine to my eye, but then after I've finished I realize everything looks like the same color. Your mini looks pretty good. I like the dramatic rock he's standing on.

Yeah I know what you mean. Thanks fof the kind words, I did forget to give the rock a wash but meh, it's in the display cabinet now never to be touched again (unless I manage to roll a griffon on the random encounter tables haha)

I think my biggest issue (after just finishing 5 dwarfs) is that I rush everything and then get upset when I have highlight paint splatered all over other parts of the mini because I am impatient. :)

I often find myself growing impatient as I approach the end of a project. Depending on how much I care, because not every project is important to me, I typically just stop, walk away, and pick it up a few hours later or the next day.
