Ability score statistics: point buy vs. rolling

I think the reason we started using that rule was b/c we really were rolling quite bad ... and it was 1e ... where a 14 in a score usually meant nada.

Ability score statistics: point buy vs. rolling

I prefer 4d6 drop lowest ... we do have a house rule though, reroll any ones ... 3 ones = 18, 4 6's or 4 1's = 19. definitely a bit higher than normal, but still able to get a low score (in our last game my pc had a 9 dex and the rogue had a 7 cha)

    Minor Gods Make Convenient NPCs

Kind of like divine rank 0/hero/quasi-dieties ... they still need to collect mundane (powerful) items and allies. I could see them being powerful patrons, at the same time having to be careful not to upset a rival (even of similar alignment ... another N war hero diety taking worshippers from...

    Stargate SG-1/Atlantis 7-14 *Season Premier*

I wonder what angle the people from avalon will bring in? ... the girl pulled the sword from the stone and what not ... I know, they'll have a corp of knights (like the jaffa and ori soldiers) backed by wizards (to borrow merlin's title) who are kinda like the priors.

    NPC classes

here's a thought to limit the higher levels of cultists ... have their be only a few or one member who can reach that point ala 1e monks, druids, and DL's W's oHS and clerics. you could do that for each cultist organization

    NPC classes

so you're thinking there has to be some benefit to an NPC class to go above 10th level (for example)? I think a 20th lvl commoner would be okay, especially if you remember to use age categories ... those -'s to str/dex/con would make them a font of knowledge/wisdom/experience but physically not...

    NPC classes

cultists with summoning spells ... perfect!! what would spell progression be like? ... rangers/pally (up to 4th level) ... bard (up to 6th lvl) ... or full? Or even a full progression, but limited spell selection (like you have already) ... and maybe limited spell levels (ie in previous...

    How are GNOMES ?

I tend to think of gnomes in different ways: 1. as a prankster/illusionists/storytellers 2. as craftsmen 3. as tinkers (DL, or from warcraft) 4. as fey-kin (forest gnomes) they all don't need to live in the same place (tinkers would be world specific or maybe an urban type)

    So, I rolled 5 18s

We still prefer rolling ... and our group wouldn't let you have any stats until you rolled in front of the group. a. it's just more fair b. more believable c. if you're rolling poorly the DM can step in and 'help' d. ... having one or two low scores is actually kind of fun (ie my 9 dex...

I've given up on WotC's message boards. What about you?

there's a lot of 'noise' there, so I pick and choose and try to be helpful (a couple of plugs for Creature Catalog).

Greyhawk Heraldry: The Duchy of Ulek

I think that's from the World of Greyhawk ... the LGG version is a bit nicer, bolder color's and what not ... if you're artistically inclined just spruce up the detail and colors

Ten Reasons you will love Dragonspawn

There is also the fell drakes ... originally from the new chainmail game, and iirc they were created by Bahamut to help the elves (and their alignments are good). Klaus: I like your picture better than the WotC piece

    What are you reading? [July]

Just read the first two books of The Tears of Artoman (I think I got the series right ...) by Sarah Ash ... they were okay, and I'll definitely take the next one out of the local library when it comes out (library's rock)

    M&M Werewolf

are you thinking WW as a d20 game ... or WW for use in DnD? ... I'd like to see them for DnD (which might mean some power drops ... considering the DnD world is a bit more used to supernatural stuff than the WW WoD ... werewolfs are scary, but a giant a dragon would definitely get my Ranger's...

    M&M Werewolf

I think if you went with a template you'd be okay ... for simplicities sake just take the crinos and wolf forms (not the glabru-sp, or dire wolf ones) I think many of the werewolf abilities can be represented by feats or PrC's ... their classes (memory fails can't remember what they are) could...

    Pirate Base Class

another idea would be from DL setting, the Mariner. Located in The Age of Mortals and Legends of the Twins ... LotT is the more recent version. It basically makes the mariner a fighter subclass ala the ranger
