    How did you start?

My Intro to Gaming I said through a friend, but that is not strictly the case. When I was young, my mother, brother and I moved around quite a bit. Every other weekend I would go stay with my dad who was big into science fiction and fantasy. I remember him taking me to see John Boorman’s...

    Conlans Art Thread

Sweet looking work. It seems as if we are going along parallel lines. I'm working on my own homebrew with a large backstory and rich history that is loosely based upon our own world in about the same time period and roughly the same cultures that you have mentioned. Although there are quite a...

    Eric Noah's Info

Wow, this thread has been growing faster than I can read it! Anyway, I think that I will probably pick up the core book and preuse them and see if I really like what is there. Really though, I've got more than enough gaming material to ever really use all of it so even if I don't like 4e...

OSRIC: something for the old schoolers

I just purchased it and read through it. Awesome! I hope to see some more old school gaming goodness like this soon.

New Leatherbound Monster Manuel has new stat blocks! (and other info)

Damn my collector urges! I'm sure I'll just have to have this as soon as it comes out. Thank the gods I didn't ever get into the whole minis thing or I'd be doomed!

Monster Manual IV - Good, Bad, or Indiferent?

You know, I've read all of the comments and vitrol against MMIV and was really expecting to hate it. However, I got it yesterday and I must say that I really liked it. Now I have to qualify this by stating that as of right now I'm not an active gamer (meaning I recently relocated and don't...

OSRIC: something for the old schoolers

That is one sweet module (I have a fondness for 1E style art as you can see from the link in my sig). Anyway, I really like the whole OSRIC idea. I've been thinking of doing some of my own adventure design and this is probably the best shot at getting some practice in on it. I've got lots of...

Rappan Athuk: Reloaded SOLD OUT by wide margin!!

Wow, this has gotten pretty heated. Well, as an American living abroad in Japan, I have no choice but to order my stuff online. I tried to order directly from WW but they wouldn't ship over here. Anyway, I know it has been said that some online retailers will be getting copies so I was...

Troll Con V - A Mustering at the Dunjon

Hrrmmm, I'm originally from Springfield, MO so that is just a few hours drive away. Of course I live in Japan right now and will probably be in the Phillipeans when the convention is happening. Such is life. Well guys, have a great convention and maybe in a few more years I'll be able to make...

    Guardians of Order's death-a confirmation

It is indeed sad to see another publisher close their doors. I found GoO's A Game of Thrones to be the most well done RPG books that I own (which is saying a lot because I own quite a bit). I wish there were more games published with the production values that the Delux Edition of this game...

Rappan Athuk: Reloaded SOLD OUT by wide margin!!

Wow, good for Necromance Games but sadly bad for me. Since I currently live in Japan it is rather difficult for me to get ahold of some of the preorder stuff. I tried to preorder from WW but they wouldn't ship over here (even though I have an APO box). Well, I'll hope I can get one online...

Lamest Creature You've used to good effect in your campaign

Ah, now that is a freaky idea. I like it :]

Lamest Creature You've used to good effect in your campaign

That's a good one. Actually, several here have been really good. Looks like the using a lame creature as some sort of deception or somehow tricking the party with it is the way to go.

    Prehistoric D20

I've been interested in a late stone age/early bronze age setting myself. Although what I had in mind was something a little more serious and probably pretty low magic. I like the idea of shamanistic magic, totem magic and ritual magic along with herbal lore in this type of setting. I think...

Lamest Creature You've used to good effect in your campaign

Heh, I completely forgot about those critters. Flail snails, now there's a dreaded beast!

Lamest Creature You've used to good effect in your campaign

I just read through the adventure "Box of Flumph" by Tim Hitchcock from Dungeon 118. It really got me thinking about some of the more absurd creatures out there that often fall through the cracks and never see the light of day in a typical campaign. I was wondering what maligned creatures have...

Which book(s) should I buy next?

I find that the Atlas (Penumbra) books are excellent. So Dynasties and Demigogues got my vote.

Remember the DUNGEON boardgame by TSR? Predated D&D?

My brother and I used to play that game quite a bit. It was about the only thing relating to fantasy that my brother was even remotely interested in. I lost my game somewhere along the line over the years but just recently picked up a copy on eBay a few months back. Man, I love that game!

    Why Dragon Magazine?

I've read Dragon on and off since the mid 80's. I had a subscription about three years ago and let it lapse. However, Eric and the guys have been putting out some stuff that I really enjoy and I've renewed my subscription. I pretty much read the magazine cover to cover. I like the coverage...

Dragon Magazine: Crunch vs. Fluff - What do you want?

I think right now the magazine is really got what I was looking fore (more fluff than crunch). The Demonomicon articles are fantastic and other staples like Ecology of the... that I tended to gloss over in the past are starting to capture more of my interest. I used to have a subscription...
