    Dragonshield Tactics

The rules on immediate actions say that powers define the triggering action. Dragonshield Tactics defines it as "an enemy moves adjacent," not "an enemy makes a move action that includes a move adjacent." So, yes, the triggering action is a subset of a move action. I don't see that this is a...

    Dragonshield Tactics

The "triggering action" isn't the whole move action. It's the move adjacent.

    Kobold Wyrmpriest in KotS?

The Wyrmpriest's Energy Orb is +6 vs. Reflex, but it's not a basic attack, it's an at-will power.

    Dragonshield Tactics

They probably should have called it a "triggering event" instead of a "triggering action." That would likely have prevented the confusion.

    Rolling for Initiative

Because on average they'll act a lot lower in the initiative count that way, since they'll all have to delay until the slowest monster acts. Trading speed for coordination seems like a fair tradeoff.

    Dragonshield Tactics

No, an interrupt would indicate that the power goes off before the enemy's move adjacent completes, which would be confusing, since it would possibly allow the Dragonshield to shift into the square the enemy was trying to move into, or to shift away before the adjacent move so that an adjacent...

    How to gain Combat Advantage

Prone enemies grant combat advantage, so coordinate with the fighter. Delay until after his turn, and when he uses Spinning Sweep on the big bad, Profit.

    Dragonshield Tactics

I think some people are seriously overthinking this power. The triggering action is "an enemy moves adjacent." An enemy moves adjacent, Dragonshield Tactics triggers. There's nothing there to suggest a Dragonshield must (or even can) wait until the move action is entirely complete before making...

KotS - Spoiler Kobold ability - question...

The rules on immediate actions also say that the triggering action is defined by the power, and Dragonshield Tactics defines the triggering action as when "an enemy moves adjacent." So the enemy moves adjacent, and Dragonshield Tactics triggers as a reaction. The fact that it's a reaction...

    Minion Initiative

I generally roll individually; if I want to simplify things for myself, I'll have all the monsters of one type hold until the slowest member of that group gets to act. That's what the PCs would have to do if they all wanted to act on the same turn, so it only seems fair to hold the monsters to...

    "Charging provokes attacks of opportunity."

You're actually combining the charge action with the run action (+2 move, give combat advantage), which the KotS rules don't actually say you can do, but it seems like a reasonable thing to allow. (Has it been confirmed how long the combat advantage from running lasts? Is it until your next...

    Possibly..err...probably..a stupid question

Ah, I see. There appeared to be recharges like that on the DDM roleplaying stats, so if it's per power, I'm glad to hear that isn't also the case in the RPG proper.

    Possibly..err...probably..a stupid question

That would make more sense than rolling a separate die for each power, because if you were rolling for each power, there'd be no reason to get all cute by switching up the numbers like we've seen with some creatures' powers (recharge this power on a 5 or 6, this other power on a 4, that power on...

    Possibly..err...probably..a stupid question

Recharge 5 6 means roll a D6 each of the creature's turns, and the power recharges on a result of 5 or 6.

Yet another look at KotSF/4th Ed.

Meh. I'm not worried. IMO, the biggest obstacle to roleplaying in KotS is not the rules, nor the scenario as presented, but rather the fact that it uses pregens. Instead of coming up with a character concept and then using the rules to realize it in play, players have to pick a set of statistics...

Yet another look at KotSF/4th Ed.

I own the Ultimate Skill, but invoking it isn't very fair. You're comparing a complete game line, with rules spanning dozens of books, to the incomplete, introductory rules for an unreleased, brand new game line. You're heavily stacking the deck.

Yet another look at KotSF/4th Ed.

Hold on, you're saying that the Trading and Seduction skills in HERO (for instance) count as roleplaying rules, but the Diplomacy and Bluff skills in 4E don't? What criteria are you using to make that distinction?

Yet another look at KotSF/4th Ed.

In D&D, combat has always been the focus of the rules. Whether or not it's the focus of the game has always been up to the DM and the players. I don't see how 4E is any different in this regard.

Tiefling Warlord for KotS + Extra Skill Challenge

Some powers can miss and still do damage, so the extra wordiness isn't entirely wasted.

Tiefling Warlord for KotS + Extra Skill Challenge

It closes the rift, which obviously removes the big monster in the rift from the fight.
