Can a cleric who uses a spell slot to cast a "Cure" spell, apply a metamagic feat to that spell and lose a higher slot? For example, if a cleric decides to lose a 6th level spell slot, can they cast an empowered (+2 spell level) Cure Critical Wounds that heals 6d8+X HP? I couldn't find anything...

If you're not opposed to midis, you can find a lot of video game music here. Theres any number of battle oriented themes. When my WLD group gets into a battle, I usually listen to Luca Blights fight theme from Suikoden 2. Failing that, I think Rob Zombie makes good "smash bad guys" music.
