E3: Prince of Undeath final skill challenge is bad (Spoiler)

Honestly I found the entire module very underwhelming. If I had to pick on just this skill challenge alone, I would say your concerns are right and I would pick Option 2, and have the players never fail the challenge. They can keep trying until they win or Orcus pulverizes them all, and the...

Removing the link between class and ability

Wow, that's an exciting idea! I never thought of it this way, but with things like passive skill, you can have "skill attacks" vs "skill defenses" the same way you have powers attacking right now.

Removing the link between class and ability

I like the idea, but it would either make 4e classes even more generic than they are now (it doesn't what score you use, you end up doing the same thing) or it would require even larger amounts of powers than there are now, which would be a HUGE amount of work (you'd need powers to support every...

    Ebook RPG Books

How well do these devices handle graphics and tables? I'm sure inevitably all books will be digital this way, but for now, how well they handle art is a big part of it for companies that already have PDFs a certain way.

    Google Wave

I've been using it to do previews of a little RPG system I've been writing for my friends. It's a great place to display material and get feedback. I'm also GMing a GURPS Mystery game on Wave. Wave handles this pretty awesomely because you can have a wavelet for each character if they're...

4E - 18 Months Later: Love it or hate it?

It's a mixed bag for me. While at first I was extremely excited and happy for it, nowadays I've cooled off a lot. I like playing it and I like DMing it and I do both. But I don't love it like I used to when it was new. I've started to see cracks in the pearl surface, and I feel more and more...

How many gamers you know post in forums?

All of them. I play mostly online, either PBP, via VTTs or via Google Wave. Literally every single gamer I know goes or has gone to forums, particularly this one, Wizard's community and myth-weavers.com.

    Wuxia published RPGs and campaigns

GURPS 4e with GURPS Martial Arts supports lots of distinct fighting styles and techniques and has options for playing anything from gritty realistic martial arts to the most implausible cinemartial arts you can think of. And being GURPS it handles many dimensions of the game besides combat.

Core Rule Books Only - What system would you play?

I would play D&D 4e or GURPS 4e. I rarely use supplements in D&D 4e, as I feel the game works quite respectably with just the first three books. GURPS 4e is an incredible system right out of the box if you're a creative person.

Have you (and to what extent) designed your own RPG?

Yes, it's about half-done, but it is unpublished (and will probably remain so unless I get a sudden influx of illustrative talent to append numerous pieces of artwork to it and cash to procure its printing, or otherwise magic to make books out of thin air). Just something to play with my buddies.

Warhammer 3e Demo Experiences -OR- How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bits

The dice and cards mechanics sounds incredibly interesting, but at the same time I feel like I would totally forget to pick out this many dice and this many dice, and I'd probably lose some of them along the way...happens to all my board games. Thanks for the write-up. I wouldn't have anyone to...

Here's my world... tell me yours!

I've always found the interaction of magic and law to be really interesting and I like settings that dare to do that rather than being entirely permissive. In mine I sort of go half and half – there's places where it's illegal to heal people entirely for free, and there's a lot of red tape...

Here's my world... tell me yours!

The intro to mine is on my blog, I don't really want to repost it here as it's...completely massive, and I don't know if I can summarize it any further than that. It's a "10 Things You Must Know" section like D&D 4e's setting books have. You can find that here. Really really basically, it's...

    This qualifies as art?

It's called having different tastes. Personally I rather like his art, it reminds me of weird cartoons like Invader Zim, but I'm a big cartoon/anime watcher and prefer those kinds of styles to regular run of the mill fantasy art. He got paid for it because the D&D guys liked his style and wanted...

I'll get to try out 4e this weekend, advice?

This to me is the best advice. If you go in looking for the return of 3.5 you won't find it. Try to understand 4e on its own terms and keep an open mind. One of the major things about 4e is that it is laden with abstractions. Understand that and try to have fun with it.

Will Google Wave Play a Part in Your Game?

As a primarily play-by-post and play-by-chat gamer (by choice, as the textual mediums are better for the kind of roleplaying I like than talking to people) I am very excited by Google Wave and have already joined a 4e game on Wave to try out roleplaying, combat, and everything else on it. It...

    Thank You

Gonna miss you in your WOTC capacity Scott. To me you were like the face and voice of the company on these forums, and I always looked out for a Rouse post to see what was going on when something confusing or exciting was afoot. Good luck!
