Devil's Sight + Darkness is kinda nice, although darkness now only gives a 20% miss chance. thats still quite useful. Especially when the enemies have decided to pepper the group with arrows(i found this out first game i played the character). Eldritch spear is nice, especially with precise shot.

Hideous blow does cause an AoO. The act of using the invocation causes the AoO, not the attack itself.

Yea, warlocks do not need spellbooks, as they dont cast spells. Invocations are spell like abilities, not spells.
