    D&D Rules Cyclopedia-any experiences

Yeah, I just did a purge as well...and the Cyclopedia made the cut. Let go of a LOT of books ranging from extra copies of OD&D stuff to 3.0 stuff. Really, I just kept some nostalgic OD&D books, my fav 1st edition books (Wilderness Guide, Uneathed Arcana, Fiend Folio, Players and DM Guides)...

The difference between novels and RPGs

I must admit that I prefer immersing my PCs into a world of calamity. Then they are thrown into the chaos and deal with the remnants and tribulations of an upturned environment. So, in my experience, my games are closer to the novels that you speak of--I do try to add the occational rush to...

Oh, no prob. :) Breeze: 0 lvl; evocation (air); Components V, S; Casting Time standard action; Range 25'+5'/lvl; Effect gentle gust of wind; Duration 1 round/lvl; Saving Throw none (object); Spell Resistance yes. Creates a gentle breeze blowing over an area as far as 30' from you. +1 moral...

    D&D Rules Cyclopedia-any experiences

It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. I remember moving to a new town when I was younger. The new gaming friends I made only played 2nd edition. I bought the group the Cyclopedia. They became my eternal companions. Might be an exageration...but not much of one.

    A Moral Dilemma

Probably not such a hot idea to bring a paladin derailment into this thread...even if it was briefly mentioned by the original poster.

I'm not sure what you're waiting for. Do you know the descriptions of the spells you listed? Meaning you are unsure of what would really suffice as a substitution. Or are you hoping for better examples of relevant replacements?

    A Moral Dilemma

Take your multiple weapons, bushels of armour, fancy mounts, magical acoutrements, and lofty swagger out of the village...bury them. Then approach the village as common folk looking for a nights rest and a good meal. Or, perhaps the next town.

Nothing really covers either of those spells completely. You could replace breeze with mage hand or resistance...but neither really capture the feel. While wind armour really fills the void of 2nd lvl armour spells; but, I suppose gust of wind or protection from arrows could suffice...

DM's Campaign Vision vs. Player preference

Skin tone!!!??? I think we all know the problem isn't the picture. I have yet to see a picture that could make or break a setting...and I've spent a great deal of time studying imagery and rhetoric....a great deal of time.
