D&D 5E (2014) Final Hours on Kickstarter! Violet Dawn: Exile is a graphic novel based on the Ennie-nominated d20 Setting

Just a quick update: As of this writing we're more than 90% funded and closing in on our goal with just over six hours left to the campaign. We're so grateful for all the backers and all the support we've received, but if you haven't yet taken a look at our dark fantasy story with fantastic art...

WotC Rumor: OGL will not be supported starting with One D&D

I haven't been around for a hot minute, but this would be awful. I hope this is just a rumor. Seems like this would be crazy since this didn't pan out well for 4e as it basically created Pathfinder, but I'm way outta the loop on what's been going on.

Kickstarter Final Hours on Kickstarter! Violet Dawn and the Denizens of Avadnu return

Bumping this with an update: The campaign is now 50% funded but we're also halfway through, so every pledge continues to matter. A few more reward highlights: Backers receive panels and pages of an extra 6-page story via backer updates. (The story will also be included in the finished book.)...

D&D 5E (2014) Final Hours on Kickstarter! Violet Dawn: Exile is a graphic novel based on the Ennie-nominated d20 Setting

Long, long ago, the Inner Circle released a series of d20 sourcebooks featuring the Violet Dawn weird fantasy setting, including the Ennie-nominated Denizens of Avadnu and The Broken Isles. Inspired by the likes of Dark Sun, The Dark Crystal, and the pulp fantasies of Robert E. Howard and...

Kickstarter Violet Dawn: Exile live on Kickstarter!

We finally venture back to the enigmatic world of Avandu. Our first project is a beautifully illustrated graphic novel by New York Times bestselling author, Alexander Freed (Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron Trilogy, Star Wars: Rogue novelization) and artist Louis Sollune. The boy Kaszek is...

Kickstarter Final Hours on Kickstarter! Violet Dawn and the Denizens of Avadnu return

Wow, it has been a looooong time since I posted on here. It's nice to see some familiar faces as I lurked the past few days. As time allows we have been slowly working on a Violet Dawn graphic novel to introduce our setting. After a bunch of personal setbacks and that whole Covid thing, we're...

    D&D 5E (2014) Upcoming OGL-Related Announcement!

I think there were a lot of factors at work here not just the license itself (we didn't have an issues with the license). Among them: 4e was harder to develop for (you ever trying designing a new class? Ugh!). The game changed dramatically and publishers had to learn everything all over and...

    D&D 5E (2014) Upcoming OGL-Related Announcement!

Aside from really wanting to know now, I think this is a smart approach. It avoids the immediate glut and people trying to jump on right away just to make a quick buck. My guess for how they are going to handle this is that they go with an App Store type model and all 3rd Party D&D Next stuff...

    D&D 5E (2014) Art in 5e...?

I absolutely love the new art style fonts and all. Harkens back to the old days while keeping a modern and fresh look. I applaud the art team.

D&D 5E (2014) 5e launches with two adventures - designed by Kobold Press

I would absolutely love to come back to the RPG industry and support 5e with monster books and adventures. At this point I just have no idea how/if they are going to allow it. Waiting patiently...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D Next Open?

Thanks man, I appreciate it. Honestly, I look back at our old stuff and I'm pretty appalled by most of our art. If we did something new it would look a hell of a lot better.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D Next Open?

The Miniature Player's Handbook was published by Mongoose Publishing I believe and I know that really ticked them off. They did all three core rulebooks, didn't they? I didn't know the release of OSRIC was an issue.

We talking 3e, 4e, or both?

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D Next Open?

Haven't really given it much thought to be honest. It was just something I was thinking about now that I have time on my hands again. Plus, with a new edition around the corner it would seem like a good time. I'm really just trying to get a feel for where everything is at and a lot has changed...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D Next Open?

Relevant to you sure. My thread and my point is the silence on the whole topic. To each his own I suppose.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D Next Open?

Well, it's somewhat the same in that they are eschewing 3PP again. That's the point I'm getting at. I checked on all the industry groups that I belong to and there is zero information on D&D Next. Just a couple links to the articles that were posted around the D&D Anniversary. Very different...

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D Next Open?

Been a member for over 10 years and my bookmark still goes right to the forums... :/ Thanks. Those are mostly accessories and they usually do that stuff for D&D. Was hoping to see an adventure or something fluffy.

    D&D 5E (2014) Is D&D Next Open?

Agreed on the quality of CC, but honestly who cares? Do you really think if a 3PP releases releases a subpar product that's going to affect D&D Next's sales in the slightest? EDIT: Actually I remember Ryan Dancey high fiving people with his copy of Freeport as proof that the OGL was successful...
