Help me with a kick butt char

Well, a nice thing to do in combat is battlefield manipulation. Take feats like Karmic Strike, Improved Sunder and Improved Disarm. Monk/Psychic Warrior works best for this, but since Psionics isn't core (boo), we'll have to settle for Monk/Fighter or Monk/Barbarian (if you go for Barbarian...

    Would you allow this feat?

Let's look at it this way - the Cleave attack you get off an AoO is not an AoO. It's a free attack you get, the same kind of free attack you get from, say, Improved Trip. Besides, Cleave of an AoO doesn't happen all the time (you have to drop the opponent first). The feat, however, can happen...

Hide in Plain Sight Versus True Seeing

Like some have said, HiPS is not some sort of 'magical' hiding. As it is written, its a near-magical ability to hide even when you aren't allowed (by the rules) to do so. Imagine Batman and Spiderman doing their fast fade-aways. One second they're there, the next they're not. I'd say HiPS would...

The House - problems with CR.

As interesting as that 10 by 10 idea is, I don't have the A&E Guide, so I'm not very clear on how that would go. Besides, I'd like to keep this rather simple and straightforward. Judging at the hp and damage outputs of my PCs, 80hp and the DR would be enough to make the house sufficiently tough...

The House - problems with CR.

Ok, I will be running a game for a bunch of level 3 PCs soon and I came up with this monster for them to fight at the end of the story arc. Right now, I'm having problems judging its CR, and whether it would be an appropriate challenge for them. FYI, I plan for the PCs to be around level 4...

Nice one. Was waiting for something to happen to this SH.

What do you do when you're too powerful?

There is a table in Oriental Adventures that deal with BAB and monk iterative attacks for multi-classed characters. It's pretty useful. Yeah Diaglo: didn't really get what you meant the first time, which prompted my response. Maybe you should have used a smiley :D.

    Why aren't paladins liked?

Paladins cramp my style? Hah. Who cares what they say. They wanna stop you from pickpocketing some merchant, they gotta see you first. That's what I usually do when playing a CN rogue-type with a Paladin in the party. Tactics-wise, if the paladin wants to be difficult and not be... dubious in...

    Elminster vs. Mordenkainen

Mordy would win for two reasons: Reason 1: Gary Gygax. Reason 2: Mordenkainen's Disjunction.

What do you do when you're too powerful?

Honestly, I really don't think the character is in anyway too powerful. Of course, being a spellcaster, this man is able to reach levels of insanity almost unseen. Imagine if he casted Divine Power on himself? It's completely possible, since he's a level 8 Sacred Fist and they get level 4...

What do you do when you're too powerful?

Flurry of blows my friend. By the way, how did you manage your 2d8 unarmed damage? Does your DM allow the monk and sacred fist unarmed damages to stack? -Chasmodai

Damage Reduction vs. Two Weapon Fighting

I'm a big fan of two-weapon fighting, despite all its 'flaws'. Yes, my AC isn't as high. Yes, my to-hit and damage potential isn't that high. (But then again, I usually play rogues, so I have sneak attack). All I can say is that Two-Weapon fighters should know their role - know when to fight...

    Can this be right?

Sure it does! :D It's from Oriental Adventures, where Karmic Strike originally came from. Not if you have Defensive Strike. :D I prefer Involuntary Rage over Pain Mastery and Roll With It over anything else. DR 2/- is simply unbeatable!! :D

Help with half-orc Champion of Gwynharwyf build inspired by Daelon in NWN

This combo cannot work as a Vassal of Bahamut needs to be Lawful Good, and a Champion of Gwynharwyf needs to be Chaotic Good. Thought I'd point that out.

    Can this be right?

SRD says: but if the same opponent provokes two attacks of opportunity from you, you could make two separate attacks of opportunity (since each one represents a different opportunity). So, technically, he could make several AoOs against the same opponent. Also, he could get Defensive Strike...

Twin Swords (? Something Like That)

Only one I know of is from Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed - Massive Two-Weapon Fighting. Requires Strength 17 and a BAB of +7. Only works against one opponent. Two Weapon Defense works against everyone.

Help us build an Ogre-Mage Hunter!

Here's a wacky idea: Get some levels in rogue (4, maybe?) and some ranks in Perform and Tumble. Then take 3 levels in Shadowdancer, for Hide In Plain Sight. Maximize your Hide, Move Silently, Listen and Spot for optimum effectiveness. For items, get a Ring of Chameleon Power, for the insane...

    Sundering "Unarmed Weapons"

No, you can't sunder someone's hands. That's why they take the feat for Improved Unarmed Strike, or play a monk. It'd be pretty unfair for someone who took IUS to have his hands/feet 'sundered', cos he just pretty much wasted a feat, no? I mean, one person take Improved Sunder to not provoke...
