I've tried many different approaches and never really found myself happy with any of them. I would love to have a decent enough random system with a hex-grid layout, but I haven't got it yet. 😕

I do a strong mix of both. I prefer totem when my monsters are flying creatures, or have a large map area, or when I have a massive amount of creatures in a fight. Minis and maps when we're more closed in small spaces or fewer monsters. And sometimes, I just choose to be lazy in mid session...

Coming up on session 38 in my current game. We try to play weekly, but health and life got in the way this year. Anyway, the highest level character is 7, with most around 5 after some character deaths. The 7th level char has been at every session and never died.

Other: my players happily roll because it's fun.

I'm using a top mounted projector from my ceiling and roll20 to display maps. Seems to work very well for me. I would agree with the Canuck that you should mount plexiglass over the monitor if you go horizontal mounting.

I can't confirm for the android version, but to damage or heal on the iOS you hit a button in the top right corner to go track hp. Then select the creature or creatures and adjust the hp. I would assume it works virtually the same on the android.

For combat tracking, I use DMMinion on my iPad. There is a pc version as well. Otherwise, I have the conditions page printed out for players and I ordered Gf9's spell cards to assist with quick lookup of players spells at the table.

I would have gone with Pathforder -- Similar to pathfinder and fourth, plus a ford is a crossing, which makes it like a double pun!

For my part, I usually only want the defenses, level, and maybe the HP for the PC's. May be different for some DM's, but I don't track their surges, powers, etc... Heck, even when I use the D&D4eCM I force all player HP to 10, so I can simply damage by 5 for bloodied or 10 for unconscious...

Very happy about these. I have tubs of dungeon tiles that I rarely ever pull out; always leaning in favor of my binder of poster-maps.

If you can find it, the soundtrack that came with the 3rd edition Sharn: City of Towers book has some really good instrumental music. Also, Midnight Syndicate's Dungeons & Dragons soundtrack is really solid. Firefly Soundtrack has some that work very well. The God of War soundtracks are good...

As a quick comment on .rtf - a not perfect workaround is dumping it into the old monster builder and exporting as rtf from there. Of course, then why are you not just using the OMB? Personally, it's so I can easily access the MM3, MV and MV2 monsters without full building. And I suspect...
