    New GSL Announcement

Actually, a system called Castles and Crusades (C&C) attempts to do just that. Seems to be pretty popular too. ^_~`

    New GSL Announcement

I guess it depends on whether a company prefers their eggs in one basket, or more than one, when it comes right down too it. ;)

    New GSL Announcement

Ya, not sure about those folks either. We'll just have to see. ^_^ In both cases, as folks have mentioned, these two companies have other quite successful in their own right lines to consider.

    New GSL Announcement

TLG's sticking with its current line of quite successful products. So the 4e business wont affect C&C or TLG's other product lines since the company isn't going in the GSL/4e direction.

There's your new reality TV show. "Survivor, Temple of Elemental Evil." ^_~`

Once you go C&C, you never go back

And clearly does. There's no absolute definition that anyone can legitimately point too. *chuckles* Don't include me in this. I'm not the one descending into histrionics to make my case.

Once you go C&C, you never go back

A great deal. Since AD&D and 3d were just someone's house rules being made into a game. C&C did something similar, just more abstract. Might as well ask what the hell the sun has to do with keeping the planet warm. ^_~` No matter how many house rules one puts in a game, the title on the book...

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Heh. Isn't that odd? I always liked the complexity of myth and folklore better myself. :)

Once you go C&C, you never go back

Well, fair enough. We could go round and round about this all day. Your welcome to your opinion, naturally. Its obvious that perspectives differ. Its all good. :)

Once you go C&C, you never go back

Hence mentioning a wide example of experience garnered from over 25 years of role playing. What's been 'debunked', is the oft repeated mantra that C&C is any different in regards to the optional use of house rules than any other game system. In order to run 3e, to my play style, it required...

Once you go C&C, you never go back

Well, down the road, TLG is looking at putting out games, based on the core C&C engine, that are WWII, sci fi, dark technology, and others. What this says: Is very simple. The game does not require house rules to play it as it stands. But it can be house ruled to adapt to a number of genres...

Once you go C&C, you never go back

I've seen both. I recall a fellow who retooled a few things in AD&D to where everything ran off of the combat system. This was back in the 80's. Class abilities, saves, background checks, all of it was modified to a 'to hit' variable AC number. He wanted less to keep track of. I've also played...

Once you go C&C, you never go back

The point of C&C, in part, is to be flexible. A strength that the original designers of OD&D tout for that game as well The original designers would disagree. So would the majority of players and game masters. Either system is easy to alter. Otherwise C&C would not have been possible to...

Once you go C&C, you never go back

Now thats a hell of an idea. I think I'll go start such a thread on the TLG forums and give these clever folks something to screwball around with for some silly fun. :)

    TSR Q&A with Gary Gygax

Silver and cold iron were reputed, in mythology, to have a variety of mystic properties. They were a pure channel for various sorts of forces. Depending on what one was going up against, the efficacy of the tool used varied. Also effective against faerie beings were items made out of ash and...

Once you go C&C, you never go back

Would you be so kind as to clarify this thought? I'm not looking for a fight, honest. I'm just trying to understand your comment. :)

Once you go C&C, you never go back

This, despite being told many times, that this assessment is incorrect. Read a couple pages back and you'll find the actual market that TLG is going for. One without which no hobby survives. :) Even with OD&D, the original creators expected people to house rule the game. Once again, the oft...

Because these topological forays always get stripped by those who would shaft our fun with more 'serious' delvings

Once you go C&C, you never go back

Honestly, mate. Neither do I. I don't get the 'hate' for any game system. I think its rather disturbing myself the obsessive behavior and idolatry that some hobbies seem to generate. Games are meant to be played and have fun with. If people are getting that hot and bothered over a hobby I don't...
