    Thanks guys!

    Creature Origin

In the description of some races there are creature origins. For example gnomes have the Fey Origin and devas have the Immortal Origin. Are these just for flavor or do they have a real mechanical effect? Has anyone come across any rules that have to do with creature origin? Are these rules...

Move and then charge, or *only* charge in a round?

Slightly related... Let's see how off original topic we can make this thread. You don't have to charge in a straight line (like 3ed) right? As long as you end up in the closest square available to the target, you can charge around a wall or pit. Am I correct?

What's the big deal with large PCs?

I was a long time player of 3.5 Arcana Unearthed/Evolved. This system allowed large and tiny PCs. The details that were required to account for everything could get pretty annoying. Not only in combat including weapon and armor sizes, but also non-combat situations. How would a city or...

    Bard Help

Bards also use instruments as focuses for their Rituals. Their are a lot of very useful rituals and as long as you have an instrument that is worthy, you can even perform some for free.

    Githyanki Wizard or Mage?

Sorry to jump off topic, but I never new the genasi got a second ability choice. I heard about warforged on the compendium, but where is the genasi referenced from? I just saw STR and INT.

    Death, Dying and Entitlements.

Death... I agree with the old adage here at Enworld, "It's up to you as a DM and how your group plays." That said, I think death, or at least the fear of it, is very important if you want tension and exciting battles or traps. If the players don't fear failure or the consequences, then they...

    Backing up the CB Classic

I still got the installer in my downloads folder. Wonder if that will still work? Definitely will be an old core.

    Rolling for BALANCED ability scores

Here's a new character generation house rule that I thought of. Please forgive me if this has been posted/thought of before. My current gaming group likes the idea of randomly generated ability scores. Unfortunately that seems to include one player rolling really well and others rolling...

    Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms

Noticed that for a while now. Thought we were going to get it with Minotaurs and phb3

    Negating damage negates effects

I was thinking the only way that someone has better "resistance" to a poisons non damaging effect was to have better saves. For instance a Dwarf's cast iron stomach. These of course would have to be effects that a save could end.

    Character Builder Video!

Looks pretty but where's my 3d character modeler? And where's my dungeon builder? And by the way I am fine with Wizards "holding my character hostage" on their site. I don't mind printing out a character sheet and using the old fashioned piece of paper and my brain at the gaming table.

Noob DM needs additional help :) (adjusting difficulty)

All good suggestions, but definitely check that temp HP. And don't forget that monsters aren't the only kind of encounters. You can let the other characters shine with traps as well.

    Negating damage negates effects

So it sounds like damage and other effects are totally separate, but I'm still pretty confused about this poison thing. Thank you all for the help.

    Negating damage negates effects

While DMing, I was told by one of my players that if a character trait negates damage from a power, that the additional effects of that power are also negated. Here is the example: A Theurge attacks a tiefling with Brimstone Hail which causes fire damage and knocks the target prone on a hit...

    tank Paladin / Multiclass

One way for a Paladin to mark multiple enemies is using the Divine Sanction property from the book Divine Power. Divine Sanction works like Divine Challenge except it only lasts till the end of your next turn and is used by attacking an enemy with a power that causes Divine Sanction (instead of...

Acrobatic Stunts and Running Long Jumps in Combat

Monks also have a lot of powers that let you slide or push enemies away from you. That is one way to avoid OAs.

    Shadow Wasp Strike?

Shadow Wasp Strike has been changed in the errata. It now targets Reflex instead of AC. This should prove to be a viable choice now.
