I saw the movie 10,000 B.C. Saturday night. It was just a visual spectacle and not much else. Characters died and I did not care much and characters succeeded and I did not care much. But it was fun to look at and full of attractive people, and more minorities than is normal for a Hollywood picture. Honestly, I thought the origins of the villains, which was only a throwaway line, was one of the most interesting things in the movie in story terms. But it was pretty.
Calling it a straight fantasy would arguably have worked better as a genre label than calling it a historical epic.
