1000 Unique Magical Items/priced/lvled/exp

50)

Exploding Orb (AKA Holy Hand Grenade)

Only two of these orbs have been known to exist - and all have been in the hands of a powerful party named the Great Eight which was known to own some weird magic items and research strange spells.
The orbs are made of simple steel, about half the size of a soccer ball and seem to be completely nonmagical. They are too large and heavy to put them into a sling, but they can be hurled up to 60 ft (a catapult would do better, of course;) ). The orbs explode when they hit a solid surface, and deal 20d10 points of force damage plus 10d6 fire damage in a 30 ft radius. A failed reflex save vs. DC 30 kills a creature lesser than a demigod within the affected area. On a success, it takes only half damage (charakteres with evasion are no exception).

Caster level: 20
Prerequesites: Craft wondrous item, Delayed Blast Fireball, Greater Glyph of Warding, Disintegrate
Market price: Up to the DM.

Although the Great Eight managed to kill a powerful wizard and crater his fortress with the last orb, the party lost three of its members in the explosion. The explosion was accidently caused when the party's druid hold the orb and was hit by a Disintegrate from the wizard and the orb fell to the ground. The two mages from the party teleported away just in time, the ninja run to the next door (he was caught by the explosion, but he made his save and survived), the paladin and the fighter died, the cleric escaped into the ground (she was a member of the earth clerics from Athas) and the halfling was too far away to get hit.

EDIT: 1/20 is done...950 items to go ;)

Here's a couple from Me :)

51 and 52

Whispering Winds - A +3 Shocking Javeling of Returning, created by the Air Gensai Mage Alaris for use in aerial battles against foes trying to reach his lofty mountain home. It was eventually pried from his dead hands by a rival mage (an earth gensai) who collapsed Alaris's home with a stone to earth spell.
Girdle Of The Air - This girdle gives a +2 luck bonus to saves and AC, it also has permenant fly in effect on the wearer. The wearer is also immune to all wind effects both magical and non-magical. Whilst worn it surrounds the wearer with breezes and gusts of wind, these serve to deflect any missile weapons that are shot at the bearer, giving her protection from missiles 10/+3. The noble Djinni Larketris created this item for a group of adventurers who freed him from the bottle he was being held in. It served the bearer well as the next day the party were blown off a mountain path in a gale to their deaths, all apart from the wearer who was saved due to the effects of the girdle.

Blood for the Shark God!

#53

Eye of the Shark God

This magical glass eyeball is actually a magically treated Shark Eye. It was a slick, waxy surface and resists all attempts to damage or shatter it. When placed in an empty eyesocket, the eye resizes itself to fit easily in it's owner's skull.

Once inserted, the Eye grants it's user the following powers:

Water breathing, double movement swimming, Freedom of action while underwater and 120' Darkvision while underwater.

The user also suffers from a gradual curse:

After two weeks of wearing the Eye, the user becomes exclusively carnivorous. After a month, she has irrational urges to immerse herself in water and swim at every given opportunity, unless a DC 15 will save is made. One week later, the user's skin starts to become hard and scaly, with an armor class bonus of +2. The user will attempt to hide this change from others by covering up with heavy clothing. One week later the user starts suffering from "blood frenzies": she must make DC 18 will saves when exposed to the smell of fresh blood or attack the nearest person for 1d4 rounds. Unless the Eye is removed (see below), the curse takes final effect one week later. The user dives into the ocean at swims away. Within a couple of days, they've permanently polymorphed into a shark. All knowledge of their previous life on land is erased forever, and the Eye vanishes, replaced with a real shark's eye.

The Eye is only removable if the user is rendered incapable of action (they will violently resist all attempts at removal, attempting to escape from companions at first opportunity) and a Remove Curse is cast on the Eye itself. If this occurs, the Eye forcibly extracts itself from the eyesocket and unless a roll to grab it is made vs. AC 20, it rolls away and disappears, only to reappear somewhere else in the world at a future date to unleash it's curse on another unsuspecting victim.

If caught, unless secured in an airtight receptacle, the Eye will roll away at first opportunity and be lost as above.

#54

Cloak of Twilight

Blacker than any natural material could possibly be, this cloak is obviously magical. When worn, it grants the wearer a +15 circumstance bonus on Hide checks in darkness. If the wearer knows the nature of the cloak, however, he can invoke its other powers. First, the cloak allows the wearer to use the first level Shadowdancer ability Hide in Plain Sight. Second, the wearer can store any nonliving item of up to one cubic foot in volume in an extradimensional space by enveloping it in the cloak. Retrieving such an item is a move equivalent action. The cloak can store a total of 15 cubic feet or 150 pounds of items.

Minimum Caster Level: 9
Typical Caster Level: 9
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, Leomund's Secret Chest, Darkness
Market Price: 21000 gp
Price Breakdown:
HiPS ability = 10000 (fairly arbitrary guess.)
Hide bonus = 9000 (15^2 * 20 ,*2 for additional power on slotted item)
Storage power = 2000 (based on Bag of Holding, /2 for taking an item slot., *2 for additonal power on slotted item.)

Notes: This item was inspired by the clothes worn by the title character in The Sandman. The object storage property was demonstrated in the issue entitled Ramadan.

A slightly cheesy item, which probably fits better into a "Beer and pretzels", "Kick in the Door" style game than a serious roleplay-focused game

#55

Amulet of Life Saving

These golden amulets come in a variety of designs, ranging from the simple to the ornate. When the wearer of such an amulet is slain, the amulet crumbles to dust, and the wearer is instantly returned to life, as with a True Resurrection spell.

Typical Caster Level: 20th
Prerequisites: Craft Wondrous Item, True Resurrection, Wish
Market Price: 48,000 gp
Cost To Create: 14,000 gp and 5000 xp

Notes: Yes, this is a straight ripoff from Nethack.

#56: Valhallan War Mead

This thick concoction, when drunk, requires a Fort save (DC 25).

If failed, the imbiber is severely intoxicated, having 1d6 rounds of conciousness (with -4 to all rolls) before they pass out.

If successful, the drinker immediatly enters a Greater Rage, as per the barbarian ability. This lasts for 1d6 minutes, and may not be voluntarily ended. At the end of this time, the intoxication effect takes over and the drinker suffers the effects of having failed the fort save.

If the imbiber dies during the duration of the rage effect, they are automatically true resurrected at sunrise the following morning.

Requirements: Brew Potion, Craft Wondrous Item, Bulls Strength, Endurance, True Resurrection. Market Price/dose:
8500gp

#57: Avenserai Wine

Created from the Serai berry, only found growing among pockets of pure earth on the elemental plane of Air, it is a smooth, clear vintage with a light bluish glow. Brewed by Djinni, it is generally only served at formal functions.

When drunk, the imbiber must make a Fort save (DC 15).

If failed, they become weightless, and begin to float away. This lasts for 1d6 minutes.

If the save is successful, for 1d6 minutes they gain +30 to Balance and Jump, leave no tracks across any surface, and count as weighing 1/10th their normal weight. During this time, the consumer's flight speed is doubled (assuming they can fly through a spell or natural ability. Item based movement is unaffected, unless it targets the user with a fly spell or the equivalent).

It also has a magnificent fruity aftertaste.

Requirements: Brew Potion, Profession or Craft (wine maker or whatever you call it) 10 ranks, Levitation, 15 Serai berries per serving. Market Price: 300 gp+ (often sold for a LOT more due to rarity)

Eludar, leveled rapier

Eludar, The duelist’s blade

Eludar is a +1 leveled rapier. Before a new power can be unlocked, the rapier must be used in a duel. The owner must be challenged to a duel, a duel in which the owner made the challenge does not count. The duel does not have to be won for it to count.

Eludar, the blade of Ceriando the Fox, was crafted with dueling in mind. It was said that when Ceriando wished to toy with an oppenent, Eludar would turn every strike. With time, the Fox was able to use the flexible but strong blade to easily disarm his opponents when he wanted to humiliate them and when things turned deadly, as duels sometimes do when the tempers flare and the passions are aroused, Eludar struck lethal and true. It seemed that with each duel, Eludar revealed more of its powers.

The Fox was well known for his seductions of the ladies and his extravagant practical jokes and baudy musical compositions. For these reasons, Ceriando found himself frequently crossing swords with other angry lords.
Ceriando rapidly became one of the greatest duelists in the land (mostly just to stay alive!) but, despite his great skills, he often found himself going up against the powerfully enchanted blades of rich nobles. So, after swindling a large sum from the moneylender to the high elfqueen Findalara San' Ceal in a rigged bet, he commissioned a magical rapier from the finest elven weaponsmith Jerriunnian.

The rapier has a fine basket hilt with the badge of Ceriando-a stylized fox's head on the pommel. It was forged with steel purchased from the dwarven hold of Thrakandor and crafted on the borders of the elemental planes of fire and earth. The Fox came to rely upon the blade, which he named Eludar, and, over the years he came to realize that this was a special weapon.
