Well, one way to argue in favour of the way CB does (regardless of whether CB is doing it legally or not) is that the divinity feats are only available if you dedicate yourself to a particular god.
So yes, you can worship as many gods as you like, but that in order to be granted certain powers you have to focus yourself on the divinity granting those powers.
So, for (an extremely simplified and imaginary pantheon) example, you could worship a pantheon consisting of Fire, Air, Water and Earth, and that worship would give you a variety of powers. However, if you want to be able to pass through solid rock (the Earth divinity feat), you have to worship Earth above all others, which precludes you from other divinity feats, which would have a similar (and mutually exclusive) requirements.
As an aside re: Ancient Greece, it is my understanding that it was actually considered foolish to worship one god over the others, as such might attract the ire of the other gods, what with the whole pantheon being rather jealous sorts.
