2006 New Years Resolution Thread

It's about that time again folks. What do you vow to do this year?

As for me, I'm going to get back in shape. I've ensured this by signing up for 5 credits of Kneseology (aka gym) for next semester. I figure that if I'm getting graded on it, it's insurance that I'll actually do it.

I'm vowing to work less (unpaid) overtime and continue working out as regularly as I have this past year. I'm also vowing to go to GenCon again this year.

What shape are you shooting for? Last time I saw you I thought that your shape was...adequate to say the least. Is there a sporting event that you need to be fit enough for?

As for me, I'd love to vow that I'll absolutely get to GenCon this year. I'm probably going to have to settle for "do the very best I can". Other than that I'm shooting for "find ways to make my business more profitable so that I can comfortably make it to GenCon".

Gertie, I don't know what kind of "shape" you're trying to achieve, but from where I stand, you look pretty damn good. I know you've got a low self-esteem and all, but let me assure you, your body is quite perfect. I think others here who have seen you will echo that sentiment.

Myself, I plan to masturbate less.

Oh hell. Who am I kidding.

Ah, I was looking forward to this thread.

Last year's resolutions were to a) simplify, b) diet & exercise, and c) do more RPG one-shots. A & B should continue; C is a non-issue for now.

This year's...

A) Diet & Exercise. I lost 15 or so lbs last spring/summer, but it's creeping back on. I need to keep doing a good job of journaling my food, and getting some exercise in most days of the week. When the weather is good, the best exercise is a vigorous walk. When it's bad, I have weights, my bike on a trainer, and aerobics videos to use. There's no reason I can't at least hold the line on my weight until spring rolls around and I can amp up my exercise level a bit.

B) Keep Winter from Defeating Me: as I've said many times in the past, the winter blahs can bring depression and physical sluggishness into my life. I should find interesting things to do to keep me stimulated until March rolls around.

C) Try to Find Where RPGs Fit Into My Life. I miss playing but not enough to go back to running a regular game.

D) Health-Related. Diet & excercise are vital to good health but I have some other stuff I need to attend to in this area (make various appointments).

Less than, what, exactly?

I'm gonna give that South Beach diet a try. Exercise would be welcome as well, but South Beach is going to be the "real" resolution and I'll exercise as I can.

Cripes, maybe I'll just try to keep up with my toddler. That'll get me in marathon shape in no time.

Oh, and Xath? You're a real cutie. Exercise away, but you've got it going on.

That's a great way to look at my own business, and give me motivation to earn more. Unfortunately, my wife would still likely fight me tooth and nail on going two years in a row.

Otherwise, my resolutions are the same as every year. Lose weight, work out more, and make more money.
