2006 NHL Entry Draft

That's the thing that makes me wonder about this trade. The Canucks had to give up a lot to get a goaltender who has no interest in signing a long-term contract. He wants to test the unrestricted free agent market at the end of next year. The Canucks would have to offer him an UNBELIEVABLE contract for him to consider signing.

I don't know...upon taking a look at the record of the guy that came with Luongo, he looks like he's at least the equal of Bryan Allen.

Which means we traded Auld + Bertuzzi in exchange for Luongo; whioch doesn't sound too bad to me. That he is UFA next year is alarming, but I can't think Dave Nonis (our GM) doesn't have soemthing planned.

He looks like a big, fat baby; but so far he's proven to be awfully damed cunning and proficient at his end of the game.

Nonis was on The Score earlier and he said that the team's restricted free agents are first proirity, but that he'll TRY to sign JovoCop. However, his tone was a bit sarcastic. Now that there are some familiar faces in Florida, expect Jovonovski to want to go there even more than he wanted to before the trade.

Honestly: Fine with me. If he ignores Jovo, but manages to re-sign both the Sedin twins and Anson Carter to decent deals, he's a :):):):)ing genius in my book.

Now you know how Oiler fans felt after getting Pronger and Peca. ;)

And now Pronger has asked for a trade becasue--of all things--his wife doesn't like Edmonton? I mean WTF?

The guy hauls the team into Stanley Cup contention in the first year of a 5-year contract and now is trying to get traded becasue his wife likes Edmonton less than St Louis?

I mean come on. :\

First: Bad Hockey Wife! No cookie!

Second: I've been to both Edmonton and St. Louis and St Louis makes Edmonton look like the garden of Eden!

Well all I have to say is if his wife wants out of Edmonton, I hope the Flyers make him an offer.

God knows we need the defense.

Don't wanna say I told ya so...but then I was wrong about Luongo, too.

Go ahead man :) I didn't see this coming.

They did get something for him. That's kinda scary for Vancouver. They either pay him whatever the upper limit is for multi-year contract, or he signs for one year and that turns into a bad trade. Not Thornton to San Jose bad, but yikes.

We've got the money to sign him. Cloutier gone=almost 4 million freed up, Jovo gone=another almost 4, and the cap increase will probably give us enough coin to replace Jovo with someone not as good for 3-4 million.

I mean, there's no way we are replacing Jovanovski with a comparable player (Pronger, Chara etc)...but we can get a B+ defenseman for 4 mil no problem.

Umm, because it's in Vancouver. The reality is that I don't know, but I'd assume it is a time zone thing. why would anyone want to get up at 10am PT for draft day. :\

Of course, they could also be trying to make it more of a TV event, so having it in the late afternoon would give more hockey fans the chance to watch it.

Noon ET, that's when it starts every year, no matter where it is. Until now, of course. What next, a weeknight? I never had a problem with it being on in the morning here. It's bad enough to be stuck inside in the evening watching the playoffs in June.

If its true then I will be very unhappy. But Kevin Lowe stated today that Pronger has not asked him for a trade. Now, that could be doubletalk for "Pronger's agent asked the Oilers for a trade on Pronger's behalf".

It won't be the end of the world if the Oilers have to trade Pronger. He's very valuable, and every team in the NHL would kill to have him on their blueline. Lowe will get A LOT for him, but until I hear Prongs (or KLowe) say he wants out I don't believe it. He's put money into building a house here in Edmonton! (Yes, real estate can be sold, but if things were that bad then why would he put money into the house being built in the first place.)

And the situation would be the same as it is with Peca. He won't be back in Edmonton, due to HIM stating that he wants to spend more time with his family who still live in New York state. I expect him to end up in Buffalo, Toronto, or maybe with the Rangers or Islanders.

You know, I liked Pronger before the lockout, then he showed what a jerk he really is. This "wife hates Edmonton" crap is just some more of the same. Hopefully his wife doesn't like Montreal, too.

Hey, I just realized something. Bert is now as far away from Vancouver as he can get in the NHL. How ironic. ;)

Well, I don't think another Canadian team is even an option. From the rumors I've heard, it's too cold here for her. (Now, that is secondhand info, so it might be false.) Another rumor is that Edmonton just isn't URBAN enough for the Pronger family.

Now, from what has been said, Pronger doesn't have any problems with his current contract or playing for the Oilers, and he like organization and the players. In fact, he wouldn't mind staying in Edmonton; after all, he almost won the Cup here. It simply sounds like his family isn't happy here and they want out. Peroid.

That is ironic, but I'm not surprised. He needed to get as far away from Vancouver, as possible. Florida is a nice place for him to regain his game, while not having to be in the spotlight every night.

Note, also, that Steve Moore's brother, Dominic, plays for the NY Rangers. (He's a restricted free agent, but I expect him to be back with the Rangers.) That means D. Moore and Bertuzzi will play against each other 4 times next year. And imagine if Florida and the Rangers faced each other in the playoffs. :heh:

Okay, pretend I'm Kevin Lowe. What are you offering?

I'll give you Keith Primeau since I'd be silly to offer any D-man. Not because it's bad trade...well it is but only for you since I don't think any of Philly's D-men are worth/equal of Pronger.

You' need to do better than that. Primeau is a quality guy, but give them a D Man to fill Pronger's spot too.

Derian Hatcher + Primeau.
