Seriously guys, kill the bland crap(most of the FR books, the eberron adventure, etc) before the controversial crap. Nine Swords may not deserve to win, but it does deserve to stick around longer than Power of Faerun, for example.

That's the way these Survivor threads go. If you have a product that 50% think is great and 50% hate, it will garner more votes and get eliminated faster than a bland product that nobody either likes or hates very much.

If we were voting for the products that we liked the most, and the ones that got the fewest votes were eliminated, the Book of Nine Swords would probably last longer.

Might as well just have a single poll about what you like most, though. Most products will hold their positions throughout the poll.

Best is to ask everyone for their top 3 or top 5 products in order and get a rating. However, that requires tools that aren't on this site (or at least that I don't have access to, I believe the ENNie voting tools might work).

I really don't understand why people don't like Mysteries of the Moonsea, unless it just wasn't what people were expecting.

It's absolutely perfect for me. I really like short adventures, almost like adventurettes, because I just don't have the time anymore to play through something even 32 pages long (it takes us months and the players get bored). This kind of thing cuts the whole deal up into fun, easy-to-digest bits that can be run in a session or two (more like fun, less like work). Take what you like, skip what you don't like. Plus, we get setting material so I don't have to make it all up in my almost nonexistent spare time. What could be better? Seriously, this is probably the most useful D&D book I have ever bought!

I am equally in love with the Basic Game boxed sets. What I get for my $25 is a series of short, premade "adventurettes", complete with all the maps in the form of reusable double-sided tiles, and all the minis for both pregen characters and monsters. Again, more like fun, less like work. As far as I'm concerned, it's a bargain! Sure, it's not cannon 3.5 (and frankly, I wouldn't recommend it to new players or DMs), but I know 3.5 well enough that I can run this stuff on the fly. I have been quite happy with both versions (blue dragon and black dragon) and hope they keep making more of these.

It's not exactly the same, because once a product is eliminated, its previous supporters will have to find something new to vote for. It'll be like that other show, American Idol.

Actually, this is the only book I've ever found to be completely screwed up and still worth the time to work on trying to salvage.

Though I must admit that with the great number of other options out there, a re-tool job has fallen of my radar and the book doesn't see any more use at my table now. With MMIV justly dumped, To9S got my vote this time. (with regrets, but no doubts)

It'll be like that other show, American Idol.

Actually, I hear the person getting the most votes on American Idol (at least towards the middle) usually wins.

Of course, this has even less reason to change. With Idol, the contestants get a chance to learn and the voters get a chance to see a different facet of the performer. The books are pretty much the same experience from the beginning to the end of the poll/game.

Anyway, we have our winners (or loser, if you prefer).
