2020 (mini's) hobbystreak

A few folks online are doing this #hobbystreak challenge thing - where the aim is to do something mini's related every single day ...and see how long you can keep it up (it doesn't need to be anything much - for example it can be something as simple as priming or basing a mini ...just so long as it's something each day :) ).

So, since I seem to have an ever increasing pile of unpainted mini's I thought I'd give it a go ...and I've just about managed to keep it going everyday this year (though sometimes my 'days work' really was just sticking some tufts to a base or similar). Anyway here's January's progress:

Week 1:

The larger mini's are Reaper Bones 'saproling warriors' and the smaller ones are old WotC 'twig blights'

Week 2:

Left: Reaper Bones 'demi-lich' (which I'll be using as a flameskull). Right: Ral Partha Europe 'wraith' (which I'll be using as a lich).

Week 3:

Reaper Bones 'dread wolves' (it's not the best pic of these - they look a bit better IRL).

Week 4:

These are some of the undead models from #1 of that cheap 'Mortal Realms' magazine that was on sale the other week here in the UK (£2.99 for 13 GW models).

So yeah, that's 14 models in 4 weeks ...which is pretty good going for me. Now to see how long I can keep this streak going

Anyone else want to join me in February?

Cool idea! Had not heard of this, but I have been doing something similar for the last couple of years. I make an effort to do something with minis or terrain every day. I find if I force myself to go work at the my hobby desk for at least 20 minutes I usually get involved and work for a couple of hours. On days I am not feeling it - I work for 20 minutes and call it quits.

This is particularly well timed, because last night, for the first time in a long time - I did not paint or work on a model. In my defense, I was working on my weekly homebrew D&D campaign.

So, anyway, I'm in for February!

Nice work all around. I have those old twig blight models. Yours are much better painted than mine.

I first heard about it on the Crafts & Mini's youtube channel (he cranks out a lot of stuff) - but apparently it's something folks (wargamers especially) have been doing for a while.

I also thought it would be fun to stat up the monsters that I don't have rules for ...and so I've started to compile them in a goodgle doc (HERE) - so I should also end up with my own mini-monster-manual for them :)

But yeah, even if I just (brush on) prime a single model ...it's all progress, and it seems to be working well for me at the moment.

I keep meaning to pick up some of those guys. Do you think they'd fit on a similar oval base as the dread wolves I posted above (25mm x 35mm - roughly 1" x 1 & 3/8").

Week 5: More models from #1 of the Mortal Realms magazine (as you can see I've painted the Stormcast guys up as statues, as well as finishing off another one of the undead models):

Though I will say that, this week I actually got a lot more done than you can see here (i.e. some stuff based, some stuff primed, other stuff half finished, etc.) - but these are the only ones that are totally finished and ready for the table :)

The bugbears? Yeah, you should be able to fit them on an oval base. Worst case, you'd only have minor trimming done to the base.

*Edit Over the past week I've done more men-at-arms, a white drake, finished the phase spider, and did a spearman (for the polearm mastery PC I want to play). This week: a ton of kobolds and skeletons
