24 season finale spoiler

I knew once the missile was hit with 30 minutes left in the episode something lame was going happen.

It seems to me the best course of action would have been "the president" to go on public tv and tell the country he acted in what he thought was the best interest of the country and ordered Jack and team to do whatever was necessary. Then resign. I mean presumably the "real president" will recover so anyone else's term would be short. Then the Chinese get what they want and we get what we want, a humble hero.

Interestingly, we'll have to wait for over half a year for next season and it will STILL have Jack.

I've only ever seen this one episode of 24, so I'm not a good judge perhaps, but I felt the emotion of the ending was a little weak, especially for the intensity level I was expecting from this modern epic. The idea had merit, and it would have made for a great climax to the series as a whole. But if there's another season, that just feels weird.

It woulda been better if we didnt KNOW there was another season. Honestly. I think when they filmed and wrote this they thought this was the end, but apparently the actor was convinced to do another season.

No, that's pretty much par for the series. Twenty-four real time episodes seems like a great idea, but they really have only about enough juice each season for 12 to 18 at most. They always have to streeeeetch things out past their natural limits, like having a repeating series of "ultimate" villains or having Kim do something exasperating for several hours.

Unfortunately, they're sort of wedded to the format by the title -- I imagine plenty of people would scream like banshees if Fox said they were coming back with two "12" series in one TV season, for instance.

You ain't kidding about the amount of episodes they really have. The soad opera crap in seasons 1 and 2 is painful, especially with his daughter.

Anyone else feel that the cute assassin girl's return was 'tacked on'? I mean, they dropped the ball and barely said anything about the attempt on Palmer's life after Season 2, now they bring her back for the last two eps? I have to wonder mean things like is she dating one of the producers?

I would have been interested to see a slightly different format for next season. 24: Escape From China!

I am glad they ended the season this way. I already had a daring cliffhanger this year (Battlestar Galactica), I don´t want another one. :)

And 24 still had me guessing - I wasn´t certain the show wouldn´t end up with the nuke exploding or Jack dead/ in prison.
The moment all of Jacks friends were running to his body made it likely he´d survive, but that was late..

I got to agree. I am happy that finally a show just ends without the huge cliffhanger. We know Jack will be back next year and now the question is how. He''ll probably be going up against two or three goverments.. I liked how it ended and it really stretched the drama a bit. IF it would have ended with the missle I would have been disappointed. It ended on the right note, with Jack and the core of the 24 actors working together to solve one last problem.

For the most part, I've really enjoyed each season. I did wonder after season 1 how they would continue with the 24 one hour "real-time" episodes. My personal thought was to go to a 24 hour per episode model. More traditional, but with tight time constraints within each show.... but what do I know :)

Thsi season I had to suspend my belief moreso than the other seasons. Not because of the events but because the times were too small. I liked the first one's set up and I"d love for them to return to that for one more season (five).
