2HW vs. Versatile for Feats?

As for the interaction with Weapon Talent, I think another underlying issue is that there's really no reason to restrict a Fighter to +1 to-hit with just one class of weapon. There'd be absolutely zero mechanical or balance problems if it was across the board with melee weapons, IMO. Very few fighters in 4e ever switch out their fighting style, or switch between 1-H and 2-H.

As for barbarians, I don't think there's a balance problem if you let small races count Versatile weapons as Two-Handed. It's not RAW, but who cares in your own, personal game? If it's fun for your players, go for it; I can't think of a single balance issue that would arise.

-O

Not to mention the thought of a gnome barbarian wielding a bastard sword and screaming at the top of his lungs as he charges into battle sword blazing through the crotches of minion orcs... is... just... awesome. :P

1. Not allowing Two-Handed weapons for small creatures is a balance problem (barring them access to some classe)

2. It´s the matter of 1 sentence in the errata: Versatile and small: doesn´t get +1 bonus to damage and it is considered a 2H weapon...

3. superior weapon feats should have prerequisites so that you can´t skip military weapons if you are a simple weapon using character... (you must be proficient in at least one military weapon of the same group)

4. profit

You lost me here. I think I understand the logic, but could you explain it to me?

You need to be proficient with a military heavy blade to get the bastard swrd proficiency...

or you could be even mpre restrictive and say: you need to be proficient with a longsword to take this feat.

Or you could be a bit less restrictive and allow weapon proficiency exotic heavy blades which you can take if you can wield military heavy blades.
