D&D 3E/3.5 3.0 Master of Chains, modernized/rewritten to 3.5

It's only badly worded if we live in a world where people think that tactical movements and bowel movements should be treated in the same way.

*facepalm*

Move actions:

Control a frightened mount
Direct or redirect an active spell
Draw a weapon
Load a hand crossbow or light crossbow
Open or close a door
Mount a horse or dismount
Move a heavy object
Pick up an item
Sheathe a weapon
Stand up from prone
Ready or loose a shield
Retrieve a stored item

Some of these allowed attacks of opportunity before, many did not. For this class? All of them do.... and anything else they can find that qualifies as a move action.

Let me repeat... ANYTHING that qualifies as a move action that occurs within range of the player is now subject to an attack of opportunity.

Oh, and this cat can do it AoE... remember? His TARGET is the only one that needs to perform a move action... or any action that tempts an AoE.

It's unusual that someone who spends as much time on optimization boards as you do would completely gloss over the notion that some class features aren't created equal.

But of course you then go on to say it's balanced because somebody somewhere can cast wish or some other similarly dumbass thing you pawn off as a logical argument and therefore... well.. nevermind.

Mod Edit: We have rules on these forums. One of them is that you don't discuss moderation in-thread. If you have issues, take them up with the staff in e-mail or private message, not in the middle of another discussion. ~Umbran

In the future, would you mind catering to my admiration of Star Trek and use the appropriate image?

Movement is a move action, but not all move actions are movement.

Well, let's see. I'm saying it's balanced because a build that gets all that (and more) is still considered balanced, and because other PCs who are not using broken spells get all that and more, and because the monsters who will come up get all that and more.

Seriously, if a Master of Chains tries to lock down an Ice Devil, do you know what happens? The Ice Devil laughs and teleports to a tactically superior position. Monsters at higher levels have extraordinary abilities that make mundane tactics less effective, hence why lockdown Crusader builds (which are, again, far more powerful than the Master of Chains) are considered "good" and not "broken".

Nice guides ;)

Just dinged 4 in the game.. Looking for a new feat, got the preq's already... Not sure what to take: knockdown or maybe weapon spec... or... blank atm :)

Oh.. And updated the main post

After a long time we finally played again. 1 more level before I can start this class..

Thinking of adding 1 more flavor effect... To bring it a bit more towards T3...

I'm trying to find something that doesnt focus fully on his trip/disarm/armor abilities. Something like this perhaps :

Whirling defense :
As a move action, the MoC may designates a enemy, direction or area, the MOC spins his chain in front of him as a shield towards the designated target, granting +4 bonus to AC, but can not attack. If an enemy attacks whilst the MoC is using this ability, and does not beat the new AC, the MoC may make a free disarm attempt against the attacker. Using another move action he may stop spinning his chain.
Using this ability he can also grand cover for his fellow companions, starting in front of the Moc , and 1 square (assuming having normal reach,10ft) left and right of that square..

Not sure about the part in italic... It would be something 'fun' but may interfere with your companions attacking the enemies Also, what happens if you for example, go large?...

Suggestions are always welcome

Updated main post, changed progress / a few ability's, I know 7 levels is not usual, but can't seem to shrink it to 5 without loosing too much stuff, or increase to 10..
