3.5 – Sentinels of Evermere [FULL]

Ahhhh ... the writing is on the wall for your character ;)

Prejudice! Prejudice! Errr, .... nevermind! :p

Mackensen,

do you have anything akin to "Knowledge: War" or "Kn.: Strategy/Tactics" for those of us who aspire higher things (ranks):D ? (And if so, are they class skills for fighters?)

Thanks,

I'd allow "Knowledge: Military Strategy/Tactics" under the assumption that your character has studied military history and battles but doesn't have any practical experience in big battles (yet).

This would only be used if your PC was trying to identify or recommend troop manuevers and battlefield tactics. It wouldn't be used for skirmish-sized battles.

This could be a fighter class skill.

Is that okay?

Hi, Thanee. According to my calculations, you should have 2 skill points left to burn. (5x4 at 1st level plus the human bonus = 24, then 5 plus the human bonus at 2nd level =6 .... that totals 30)

Let me know if I am missing something.

Perfect! :)

Exactly what I was thinking about.

However, rereading the setting description, it might be a bit out of place for a society like that? With an active military of about 100 warriors and no large-scale engagements in the not-so-distant past, it is a bit unusual.
(To clarify: I think it would fit well with the PC concept I had in mind, but does fit your setting? I don't want to make the impression that I'm fishing for freebies here.)

Acually, you'll find this passage on the web site:

The elves are not aggressive—they have no interest in expansion. However, they do protect their lands with force when necessary, and possess skilled armies and militia that can be quickly mobilized in response to an incursion into their borders.

The elves DO have active armies and localized militias, and there have been various battles in the recent past, though the last really large-scale battles were against the orc tribes two hundred years ago (not so long for an elf, right?). Some also belive that the civil wars in the westlands are going to spill over into the forest eventually, so the armies are standing ready.

The Sentinels might be compared to something like special ops soldiers in modern armies, but they also funtion something like police (and even judge and jury) depending on the situation.

So, it's entirely concievable that your character has served in the Evermere military, and has been transferred to the Sentinels (or however you'd like to work out the character concept). Even if your character has not been invovled in any large-scale engagements as a "grunt", he may well have a fascination with miliary history and have aspirations towards becoming a military commander. This Sentinel gig is just another rung on the ladder ;)

Appearance: Telas is above average height for a wood elf with an athletic build. His looks are rugged and he is unusually ugly for an elf. His copper colored hair is pulled back behind his ears that on second glance you notice are enormous. He seems to carry his frame effortlessly and places each step he takes without making a sound. He carries his head cast downward, trying to not attract attention to himself.

Background: Telas comes from a small group of nomadic families in the northern reaches of the forest. He has shunned the heritage of his family and has answered the call of the ruling council for more sentinel volunteers.

I'll be dropping out. As great as it would be to play in a PbP game, I don't think I've got enough time and commitment for it. Have a great game, y'all!

Okay. Better to decide that now than later ;)

Inez Hull is first in line for the spot. I've sent an email.
