"3.5" doesn't make sense...

Maybe I should write my own version of the classic adventure: Orc and Pi. The adventurer's would have to make a Will Save or die while listening to the orc recite pi.

Maybe. However, it should have enhanced features and fewer bugs. (NO, don't remove the ankhegs from the Monster Manual.

Actually, compared to some (maybe even most) other RPG products, the changes from 3 to 3.5 are worthy of a full new edition. It's just that D&D's edition changes are generally so drastic. The 3.5 name is somewhat computer-y, but the truth is that in book printings, anything more than the most minor edits generally constitutes a new edition.

And, as the original poster said, we're missing several other point releases before 3.5. But oh well. The name seems to be sticking.
