3.5e Eberron Against the Giants -- Recruiting closed.

This will obviously be a larger than standard party, so the traditional roles/classes are tossed out the window. I'm looking for a well balanced party, but 'balanced' is a relative term -- time for the weird and strange to come out of the woodwork. (but alas, the dread necromancer will still be a tough fit ;) )

Me? Like a challenge? Well, maybe....

The man's name is Olok ir'Vandeen.

"Oh, come now. 'Dread' Necromancer? Do I really look so very dreadful to you? Admittedly, this tunic is not nearly so flattering as it appeared when I first purchased it, but I hardly think that I can be blamed for that. I am but a man, and a slave to my appetites! How can I be expected to resist Durvitch's pastries, I ask you? The man is a miracle-worker, and this is simple fact. My humble magicks are nothing when compared to his, I can assure you!

"But I'm digressing again, am I not? Another weakness of mine, I must confess. But allow me to address your concerns, without further delay: Yes, my good sir, I am a necromancer, and I most certainly do call forth the 'restless dead' (as the peasntry would have it) and bend them to my will. I do so not from malice, and not from a desire for personal power, but because I have been gifted with a marvelous talent and it is my honor and my priviledge to exercise it for the greater good.

"This being the case, I could not help but volunteer myself for this mission of yours. Really, what choice do I have, if I wished to continue meeting my own eyes in the mirror each morning? And besides -- just between you and I? -- I have always found Xen'Drik to be an absolutely fascinating place. I've read much about the funerial customs of the dark-elven peoples...."

Human Dread Necromancer 9, of Karrnathi origin. Lawful Neutral in alignment, loud and hearty in personality, and absolutely fascinated by death and with what comes after. In a generally wholesome sort of way, even. Need to look at the feats and such, but other than Spell Focus: Necromancy, I ain't quite sure yet.

I'll post an actual character sheet this evening, if you're willing to give the man a chance. If not, I've a gnome giant slayer I could sell you....

Just so I'm not forgotten:

Rhun - Wood Elf Ranger 2/Fighter 4/Order of Bow Initiate 3

drothgery -- thanks for the update!

I'm somewhat surprised by the lack of clerics (giants go smash-smash), warlocks, rogues, and area-of-effect wizards, as well as dragonmarked scions from the various houses.

Not trying to change anyone's character concept, just sayin'.

It is funny, too. Without a cleric (or clerics), we may survive an encounter or two. Giants dish out the major damage.

Hey, my druid won't be totally useless in the healing deparment! She likes personal buffing spells, but she also has the wrath of nature to call on, so she can do some area of affect spells too. Granted, not as much healing as a cleric or as much raw damage as a wizard, but we're not totally devoid of those abilities either.

You needed divine casting? How about this? :)

Yoggrith M'groth - Ogre Favored Soul of The Shadow

House Tharashk has made many inroads into Droaam, looking for mercenaries to fill out their staffs. They have acquired any number of gnolls, orks, halforks, minotaur and the like, and the monsters work well as bodyguards and hunters throughout southwestern Khorvaire.

Droaam has many power groups within in, starting of course with the Daughters of Sora Kell. However, a most unlikely warlord can be found there too: Lord Gorodan Ashlord... a fire giant that was exiled from Xen'drik twenty-four years ago (see ECS pg. 166). This giant quickly established a fiefdom within Droaam and seized control of a clan of ogres and their goblin slaves. Several years later, he made contact with House Tharask, and he supplies the guild with many ogres from his lands. Gorodan is filled with melancholy over his banishment and continues to want to find ways to get back to the much warmer climate. However, the fire giant clan he was banished from still remains in power. Until that clan is removed, he is stuck in Droaam.

It was quite precipitous therefore when House Tharashk representatives came to Lord Gorodan and alerted him to the excusion to Xen'drik to deal with the giant problem... a problem which just happens to involve the self-same clan that he himself was banished from. Lord Gorodan is quite excited to possibly see that clan's destruction, and thus he has offered House Tharashk one of his most prized countrymen... an ogre that had been infused with the spirit of The Shadow since birth. Yoggrith is a favored soul of The Shadow... and he works hard in His name, as well as the name of his Lord. And if the fire giant wants him to travel with House Tharashk and all these other people to Xen'drik to deal with a fire giant problem... then Yoggrith will do so willingly and happily.

More info to come.

Love the concept, especially the Fire Giant hook from the ECS. Only drawback to being Ogre would be the 4 racial HD and thus only being a 4th or 5th level Favored Soul, with access to 2nd level healing spells max.

Or, am I not fully understanding the racial hit dice and relation to LA -- would he be a 6th or 7th level Favored Soul?
